I have been working at Morneau Shepell full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexibility- You can work from home and if there's an emergency management can be understanding.

    Cons

Leadership - Very top heavy, many people to delegate and not enough people to work.
Resources - not enough workers, not enough up to date technology
Quality - You can tell that quality is not a number 1 priorit
Turnover - many people are consistently being laid off or quitting and no one "qualified" is hired let alone being hired at all
Life/Work balance - Everyone other than leadership is working themselves to death. They know this, but they do not care.
Pay - They'll low ball you as much as possible. You work so much that you're not getting paid what you really should.

Opportunity- Plenty of opportunity, but it's all LATERAL, so don't expect an increase in pay even if you're well rounded with the company.

    Advice to Management

Instead of cutting your bottom so much, cut your top. It doesn't take 6 people to manage 1 thing. Show that you care for your employees through more than just a thank you because a thank you will only last for so long.

Listen to your employees. For no reason should something matter once things start to get bad. When an issue is recognized listen and TRULY investigate, this will help to prevent your clients from learning issues.

Do not go to the Town Hall meetings lying. If the people working on your client see how bad things are and you come to tell them otherwise, you will lose trust. The past 3 town halls you've lost the trust of many along with the confidence that this company can thrive.

During implementations, there should NEVER be an agreement to anything unless it has been reviewed with the proper people to determine how things can be executed and the timing of each request. This is your BIGGEST DOWNFALL.

I hope you take my advice.

    Pros

Morneau Shepell acquired my division about a year ago. It is the best thing that happened to our teams. The company is generous and positive. Two very important things lacking in the last 2 companies I worked for!!

    Cons

The company we were acquired from knowingly kept some of the key players of knowldge to our functions. This has been a challenge as we have been learning new things as we go. This is in no fault of Morneau Shepell but shows a major lack in character for the previous company.

    Pros

Their benefits were great. There was room for learning and for growth.

    Cons

Poor management. No formal training. Management frequently lied to employees to get them so stay; then laid everyone off. Unprofessional managers with little understanding of the real work employees were performing.

    Advice to Management

Learn the business and the systems employees are forced to use, and struggle with. Plan for the future, based on the human resources you have invested in. Learn to care about your workers.
