I have been working at Morningside Translations full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I've worked for 3 LSPs and Morningside is by far the best employer I've had. It's a mid-sized company with a global presence that's rapidly expanding but it hasn't lost that small company feel. Just about everybody knows each other and other offices and departments are always available, accountable and amenable to lending a hand when needed. Leadership is accessible and always willing to listen to an idea, question or...

I worked at Morningside Translations full-time

    Pros

Free Lunch on Wednesdays (up to a certain dollar amount) Mostly friendly coworkers

    Cons

As other people have mentioned, the hours here are long on my side of the office. We get it around 8-9am and will leave around 8pm to 10ish - sometimes later. There really isn't any work-life balance. Because these hours are the assumed norm, upper management doesn't do anything to help alleviate the workload (such as hiring more people or investing in technologies that will automate a lot of the more tedious and time...

I have been working at Morningside Translations full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - The compensation is really fantastic, and above market. Morningside has a rich history of hiring the best talent from competitors by offering a higher salary, and I'm a card carrying member of this club. I work with so many people like myself that used to work for another LSP but now have it much better. The ratio of employees fleeing competitors to have a long successful higher paying career at Morningside vs. employees...

    Cons

This isn't so much a con but to manage expectations of those applying. It's likely you'll have to pay your dues with superb and consistent performance for a good couple of years before being promoted. Yes there is rapid company growth, but we're built to scale like never before. So the good news is that growth opportunities will continue since we're not stagnant or contracting like some of our competitors, but don't bank...

      Pros

This company is not going anywhere. Plenty of cash rolling in, they will be in business for a long time. Customers seem very satisfied. Lots of very nice, sweet people, including management and owners. Very bizarre that they seem so blissfully unaware that they overpromising and underdelivering to their employees big time.

      Cons

Here's the situation. Company got big under a sometimes over-generous owner, who understood that people are motivated to work by getting paid MONEY. There were some issues, but also lots of perks and raises and it was easy to feel that your income level would continue to go up. New owners came in, improved product & processes, attempted to rally the employees around growing the company tenfold. But perks were...

      Advice to Management

Please understand that the job market right now is really competitive and you are going to continue to lose talented and loyal employees if you continue to be this cheap. Paying people MONEY is a great way to motivate them -- anything less leaves a bad impression.

      Pros

      Cons

high turnover rate, I would personally not advice to seek any job security nor longevity in this company. It is completely unprofessional. Management and staff both gossip and speak about everybody within skype business group chats. It is like a highschool where there are different cliques and there is no such thing as team work or support. Managers barely know much and basically leave you out to fend for yourself. Poor...

      "Don’t work here"

      StarStarStarStarStar
        Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

I have been working at Morningside Translations

        Pros

Some of the people are nice and it is pretty easy to get job here. Free health insurance. Nothing more to say.

        Cons

There isn’t much room for growth even though all they talk about is how you can move up if you put the work in. I’ve been there for years and it hasn’t happened. There hasn’t even been an opening for me to move up. The pay is trash. They hardly pay you enough to save and have a life, people who started after me for the same job make way more and management openly tells us we shouldn’t share wage information. They want...

        Pros

Some of the perks they offer are nice: Seamless Wednesdays (sponsored lunch for any employee that doesn't work from home every Wednesday), Summer Fridays, good insurance options, great location, nice office.

        Cons

New management has one sole intention: to make money. Don't let this intention confuse you with their claims to gentrify the company, change the culture and make the work environment better for all. They were successful in cutting costs to work towards their goal, but employee welfare has been completely disregarded along the way. Benefits were seemingly arbitrarily cut, with not a word out of the HR department. Management...

        Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and let their actions speak louder than their words; there is a clear reason quite a number of employees have left recently. Provide better benefits for your employees, show them you care about them as people, and not simply as workers or processors.

          Cons

Don't trust the rainbow-unicorn 5 star reviews. (Seriously. Are they even trying to seem genuine?) -Morale and retention are abysmal; making it past a year is a milestone.
