I worked at Morris, Manning & Martin full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

MMM has a strong client base and some good departments (e.g., real estate and technology)

    Cons

Steer clear of corporate. The group is poorly managed with prima donna partners, who are highly focused on protecting their turf and their comp, but not capable of (or interested in) fairly or effectively managing their associates.

    Advice to Management

Try to be the firm you advertise, with support for work/life balance and superior associate training. Louise Wells can only do so much from the top down. Someone needs to focus on the bottom of the pyramid and bolster the confidence and enthusiasm of the associate ranks.

I have been working at Morris, Manning & Martin full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I currently work for a great group and love that I am consistently busy. The people are driven and go-getters.

    Cons

Firm is running like we are still in the late 80s early 90s. Need to step up to the new millennium with technology.

    Advice to Management

Reach out to your employees, take random tours of the floor and skim the fat. Tons of folks with a chip on their shoulder that don't want to work.

I worked at Morris, Manning & Martin full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

This was a very entrepreneurial firm with quick advancement potential for some. The firm has a very good client base with a focus on less of the institutional clients of other major law firms.

    Cons

This firm is poorly managed as is still trying to operate as a true partnership despite having to many equity partners to make such an operational framework efficient. The firm management makes no effort to curb unacceptable behaviors of equity partners.

I worked at Morris, Manning & Martin full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Health and insurance benefits offered are pretty good. The work force is older this is very important to have to offer employees, unfortunately the not-so-great employees stay for this reason which makes it difficult to get rid of them.

    Cons

Camaraderie is non-existent. Need to work harder at involving the entire firm in activities and this may foster a better work atmosphere.

    Advice to Management

Management should be more transparent. Being more transparent may give employees more of a forum to voice opinions that may help the firm grow.

I worked at Morris, Manning & Martin full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Do not micromanage you, expect you to do your job to the best of your abilities. Great benefits including insurance, profit sharing and generous time off.

    Cons

Upper management getting worse over the years, less and less bonuses etc.

    Advice to Management

Go back to the 17 pillars of success and put them back into use.
