I worked at Motorola Mobility (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Some of the greatest Innovators in the history of wireless
Most employees believe and embrace the historic legacy
    Strong Desire to Win

    Cons

Company has been dying a slow death since the introduction of iPhone
    Brand apathy with consumers
Lack of Focused, winning Strategy from Management

    Advice to Management

True Innovation is the only way to succeed, and even then you must find a way to grab consumers attention in a loud media market.

Both the product and the methods to penetrate consumer "Share of mind" must be equally innovative to win in the marketplace

I worked at Motorola Mobility full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great products and the most talented people. I loved working at Motorola!

    Cons

Unfocused product strategy, overreliance on finance - trying to save and cut our way to profitability.

    Advice to Management

Focus on no more than 6 products and only the top volume markets, until MMI is big enough again to go broader. Keep investing in R&D and leverage the new owners to productize MMI ideas, rather than seeing others do so (e.g. iPhone)
