I worked at Motorola Solutions full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Learning multiple responsibilities and ability to change roles

    Cons

Job stability due to outsourcing North American jobs off-shore

    Advice to Management

Come down and work in the trenches once in awhile and see it from the bulk of the company's employees point of view.

I have been working at Motorola Solutions full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic engineering team. Many employees have been with the company for decades or longer, providing a wealth of learning resources for new employees. Still has a desire to innovate. Fairly cooperative environment, where the end result, to date, trumps positional jockeying. Very flexible work environment and scheduling.

    Cons

Structure and processes can occasionally seem less than clearly defined. There is a learning curve, if you are not immediately familiar with the product. A background in electrical or mechanical engineering is a BIG plus.

    Advice to Management

Its too early for me to have any advice to management. Ask me in a year.

I worked at Motorola Solutions full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good comp plans for more senior roles. Stock has done well.

    Cons

Declining business, ongoing cost cuts, no investment in innovation. Leadership is not open to criticism. Politics is the only way to get ahead.

I have been working at Motorola Solutions full-time

    Pros

Large company but feels small - great culture ... always doing the right thing for employees. Transition to the downtown Chicago office is cool - amazing workspace - accessible to senior management. Lots of opportunity to grow - company is growing and doing great things.
Love the purpose - "We help people be their best in the moments that matter"

    Cons

No downsides that i am aware of. The company has already done right by me and for me.

    Advice to Management

    Keep your eye on diversity.

I have been working at Motorola Solutions full-time

    Pros

Great people to work with. Exciting jobs that make a difference in the communities

    Cons

Every one is working with this cloud (layoffs) over their head leading to negative work environment, fear to dare, thus lost of creativity
Will not get promoted if you do not have connection to upper management

    Advice to Management

    1) Focus on your greatest asset and the revenue will follow
    2) Make sure internal positions are fairly advertised and that everyone has a fair chance to be interviewed and to get the job (if qualified), not just managers' buddies
    3) Most employees are working with this cloud (layoffs) over their head, which leads to negative work environment, the fear to dare, thus lost of creativity

I have been working at Motorola Solutions full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Only pro is free snacks

    Cons

You're not really a sales person. Depending on the territory they give you you will meet your quota. Most sales come from run rate making some people look good and others looking bad. Management likes to make promises that they have no intention on following through with. If this is your first job out of college go for it but if not stay away.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and learn how to do your employees jobs.
