I have been working at Motorola Solutions full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I've worked at Motorola my entire career. Which I would not have done if it were not an ethical, solid company. Strong backlog, reliable customer base. Like any company, there are times of disruption, reorgs and acquisitions and divestitures. Times of expansion and contraction. People come and go. Leaders come and go. But the core of the company, and the culture that was put in place by the founders son Bob Galvin remains. You can be proud of the work you do here. The products make a difference in people's lives. Salary structure is on the low side of fair, but the PTO policy is outstanding. Flexible and generous.

    Cons

It's smaller than it used to be, but it's still a big, global public corporation. It can move slowly, and has rules and requirements and processes to follow. All for good reason, but that frustrates some who are used to small companies, or working for themselves. Your career development is largely your responsibility.

I have been working at Motorola Solutions full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Work life balance
    - Pay is very competitive
    - Excellent benefits and bonus structure
    - A monopoly in public service

    Cons

As long as you are driven and a self-starter, you will succeed. You will succeed if you network, are kind, and have grit.

    Advice to Management

Nothing that I can think of at the moment.

I have been working at Motorola Solutions full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I have had the pleasure for working for Motorola Solutions for 15 years. The culture is amazing to say the least. We are a global fast paced tech company with a family culture. What an amazing combination! Personal growth is another big part of who we are. I have held 8 different roles in my 15 years. Management fosters new experiences and encourages education opportunities.

As far as company stability and performance MSI is best in class. No need to take my word for it.....look at the stock price growth, read the analyst comments that cover our company, and look at our financial statements.

    Great company all around!!

    Cons

    I haven't found many yet.

    Advice to Management

Culture is the most important thing at a company. ...so that should continue to be at the top of the priority list always.

I have been working at Motorola Solutions full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Someone finally listens to us. They have a positive attitude.
They brought in professional warehouse management. What took so long?
    Safety has improved.
Looking for every type of improvement on a daily basis.
Management is present and available, which is a positive change.

    Cons

People in other departments have been let go, which is sad, but old management was let go too and there has been definite improvement so maybe it’s good to bring new blood to the business.
No conversation about our annual increases so people are wondering if they will happen.

    Advice to Management

Don’t let these guys go. They know what they are doing.
Previous management was extremely neglectful and got away with it. Not sure why this was allowed. Don’t let it happen again.

I have been working at Motorola Solutions full-time

    Pros

    -Working for Fortune 500 Company
-Essentially a public safety monopoly, and the only organization in the business to truly have an end-to-end communication platform
-Prefer to promote from within; lots of room for upward advancement and many different paths you can take
-Unique Sales structure that allows for multiple reps/AE’s to work together on an opportunity
    -Travel opportunities
-Flexible work schedule and solid work/life balance

    Cons

Management approach can be “sink or swim”; you must be autonomous/self starting to succeed

    Pros

The pay, is very competitive. Very strong focus on respect in the workplace. Many professionals work here. Lots of tolerance for people of all walks of life.

    Cons

The long-term prospects for this company are grim. 4G and 5G technology is destined to become so far-reaching that a 2-way radio will be a thing of the past in less than 10 years.

    Advice to Management

You can't cut your way to growth.

    Pros

Good opportunity for employees under 35 years old to get hired, advance, and learn new roles.

    Cons

Per the CEO at a town hall meeting, they are focusing on hiring "digital natives".
Chaotic environment due to on-going spin down of the company.

    Advice to Management

    None.

    Pros

Great local team, friendly and professional staff. Feels like you are contributing to a product that makes a difference in the world. Competitive benefits and great perks like snacks and soda.

    Cons

Since Spillman was aquired by Motorola, the small company feel is gone. This brings both good things and bad things, but in my case, I am not a fan of the changes. With all of this comes impersonal upper-management that doesn't understand/know their employees, and rounds of layoffs to match their business strategy.

I worked at Motorola Solutions full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Consistently one of the top players in many of the industries we do business in. Investing in new acquisitions to enhance our competitive position in the dispatch marketplace. Long term employees are passionate about their work.

    Cons

Management is cutting too many people with experience, thinking they can replace them with cheaper new hires. No sense of job security even when the company seems to be doing well. Too much reorganization.

    Advice to Management

Think about the experience you are letting go and how that is going to affect quality and efficiency. It shouldn't just be a cost game.
