    Pros

The pay is slightly above average for the industry. Many folks work 5 hour days.

    Cons

Absolutely no career path and no opportunity for advancement. People rise up the ladder simply based on how long they've worked there. Management is COMPLETELY hands off, setting no goals or vision, and demonstrating complete apathy towards their employees. The office in Bellevue averages 24% attrition.

    Advice to Management

Recognize and reward your employees and their performance. Show interest in their work and communicate with them on occasion. Employ basic management techniques. Promote when possible. Also, STOP re-organizing! The company goes through a re-org about every 9 months. Listen to and thank people for their input.

    Pros

You will be afforded much time to shop for a new job as you look around. The downsizing should be pretty well done and the demands low, aside from keeping up with AT&T's crazy demands.

    Cons

SO MANY. The talent has left. The VCs have given up on this being the next media darling. Jud has taken his pet projects and spun off. The money's dried up, the tech is 3 years old and stagnant. So, uh, unless you like the downhill slide to obsolescence, avoid!

    Advice to Management

To put it in Ryan's bible thumping language: REPENT! THE END IS NEAR!

    Pros

The best reasons are all in the past now, though there are still some very good people at the company. Sadly the talent, with a few exceptions, doesn't seem to exist in the exec suite.

    Cons

Incompetent executive team needs to be replaced. Board of directors seems strangely beholden to poor-performing execs.

    Advice to Management

Stop the rhetoric and take actions instead of spewing platitudes. Treat people with respect and professional courtesy.

    Pros

The engineering team and technical group at Motricity were great - they were very knowledgeable and hard-working, and genuinely cared about the products.

    Cons

The management and senior management was a ship of fools. Promotions only went to long-time friends, and senior management... They should go back to selling cars.

    Advice to Management

    Get a new team!

    Pros

If your goal is steady pay check, 40 hour week for as long as the going is good, Motricity is the place to be. If you have any career aspirations; avoid it.

    Cons

Zero career growth; constant management turnover; deficient management

    Advice to Management

New blood and people who are more secure in their skills managing key responsibilities

    Pros

The rank and file are good people, who are enthusiastic about life and are genuinely talented. They make coming to work each day worthwhile.

    Cons

Massive layoffs, insecure leadership, and apathy abound. Zero chance for career growth. Zero recognition. Several of the management team contribute NOTHING and actively work to stay away from their employees. In three years I had exactly TWO face to face meetings with my manager. One senior manager was so out of touch he no longer knew what technology platforms we were using or what projects were being worked on. He cost the company tens of thousands, yet they promoted him.

Upper management has giant egos and is far more interested in lining their own pockets than in building a sustainable and successful long term company.

    Advice to Management

Shame on you! You have nothing to be proud of. Just know that you'll you're not immune to the unannounced layoffs or "collapsed positions." Next week could be your last.

    Pros

The individual contributors are good to work with. Remaining lower- and middle-tier management is realistic about the company's future.

    Cons

This company is in trouble. It requires new leadership and a new direction. The feature phone business is drying up, and competitors have booted Motricity out of the Asian market. Mobile marketing and advertising have a bright future, but leadership team doesn't seem to have a roadmap for becoming a part of that.

    Advice to Management

    Change.

I worked at Motricity full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There were some terrific and talented people at the company to work with and, for a time, the company nearly became a true leader in the mobile arena.
The salaries were between and mid and high range for most/all positions in the company and the benefits were strong.

    Cons

    Senior leadership was not trusted
Strategy was poor and did not align with market
    Far too much posturing/politicking internally
Technology systems were unreliable, leading to client emergencies constantly

I have been working at Motricity full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

If you were in early enough you might have made some money through stock options

    Cons

By far the worst company I have worked at. The CEO, Ryan Wuerch is an ego-maniacal narcissist and the environment he creates is absolutely poisonous. Google him or Motricity and you'll find out all you need to know about him and Motricity

    Advice to Management

They wouldn't listen anyway so why bother offering advice

    Pros

Friendly coworkers who care and put up with an awful lot while only occasionally exploding in frustration.

    Cons

No clear direction or consistency, no vision
