I have been working at Mott MacDonald (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Global company with potential for lots of different opportunities.
Most of the people/professionals are easy to get along with and like to help each other.
The benefits package seems on par for the industry.
The work/life balance is pretty good however you do have to actively manage your time away from stressful projects, as the workload can quickly get out of control.
Challenging projects that when completed are something to be proud of.

    Cons

As an engineering consulting company with many project managers there seems to be a loss for project management skills and very little (if any) upper management support for developing and utilizing standard project management tools such as maintaining a working schedule throughout project life, utilizing management of change processes and even client management.

Projects seem to typically be poorly managed and in a state of emergency, always on the reactive, and normally behind schedule which translates to unnecessary stress for everyone on the project teams(s).

Resources (people) are usually overbooked on multiple projects with multiple project managers with competing schedules. It can be quite chaotic to manage personal workloads from multiple project managers.

Many of the project managers are not engineers and don't seem to understand the responsibility that engineers undertake when sealing drawings.

    Advice to Management

Provide real project management training for project managers / hire experienced project managers and champion the development of organized and strict project management.
Require project managers to complete training that will provide understanding of laws regarding sealing of engineered drawings.

    Pros

Great opportunity to work under professional engineers as an intern or part time employee and full time student. Option to work in different areas and projects

    Cons

Not much work for actual design.
Some times there are no tasks to be done.

    Advice to Management

Would like to see more company outings and events. Not much interaction between employees. Could have better services in office.

I have been working at Mott MacDonald full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Large company practices and professionalism with small company ambition and opportunities in the individual groups and teams. I've been working with MM for a little over 1 year and I am amazed at the access to senior staff and executives that are eager to hear new ideas and implement new projects. Senior staff also found a way to let me work from home when I needed to move for my husband's work and I feel totally involved in the company even with a 6 hour time difference.

    Cons

Still developing US business within the group's larger European background but melting together nicely as time goes on.

I have been working at Mott MacDonald full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Every one is willing to help and teach new things to beginners, and the management encourages grooming young engineers to become future project managers eventually. Great place to learn and get to work in the different sectors of power.

    Cons

It is too early for me to share cons about this place, as I personally have not come across any.

    Advice to Management

Again, too early for me to give management advice, as I am a beginner in my career.
