Have a hiring push in the US as our business is experiencing major growth. Have hired a large number of very qualified engineers and graduates this year.

I have been working at Mott MacDonald full-time

    Pros

The work environment is typically relaxed and the workload is manageable. There are a lot of opportunities, but they're all dependent on your personal drive and initiative and nothing is given easily.

    Cons

The local management (past leads) is uninvolved in the day to day issues and overworked. The executives are not very concerned or knowledgeable about what the staff here actually do in the US power market. The pay/benefits combination is generally low compared to local competition, but the work/life balance is more family friendly (usually). Employee professional development takes a back seat to earning fees, so any formal training or attendance at industry conferences is generally unheard of.

    Advice to Management

Start providing a career track to engineers to help plan their future and focus more on getting consistent day to day work for everyone. Look at the offers people are getting from competitors and make sure salaries and benefits are in line with the local environment.

We consistently conduct salary surveys to assure we are competitive for very qualified engineers. Have some of the best engineers in the US working with us.

    Pros

Culture of the company is very down to earth and unified throughout the world.
Because of its ownership structure (employee owned), the drive is about excellence, client satisfaction and pride of doing a good job. Opportunities to have a very diverse career but nothing will fall on a plate. you have to go get it.

    Cons

Decisions can appear long because of the inertia of a large Group.
Pay is decent/market but unlikely to become outrageously rich working with Mott.
Not enough business driven at times

"Terrible management, terrible pay, little to no room for growth and doesn't care about its American Employees."

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook

    Pros

Some of the work they do is very admirable and the field consultants are usually great and well educated people.

    Cons

Low pay, No training, Terrible management, Unfair (UK gets all their holidays and then some, US barely get any) No room for growth.

    Advice to Management

Management needs a lot of work. Upper management only care about making profits to fill their own pockets and stuff their own faces. Maybe they can pay their employees a decent salary if they shave a little off of the hundreds of thousands they make. Show some empathy for you employees and how about you let the US employees have just as many holidays and vacations as the UK folks?
