I worked at Mountain Creek Resort part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Work during college breaks
    Passes to resort amenities
Fun depending on department, but can also be harsh depending on department

    Cons

    Lots of rude guests
    Bad pay structure
    Inferior Upper Management
    No job/hour security
Little room for advancement past a certain point

    Advice to Management

Work at creating a healthy work environment rather than just saving money.

    Pros

    -Laid back environment
-Decent money during the holidays thanks to tips
-Kitchen staff were funny and alright
-Prety easy to get time off
    -Not many pros

    Cons

-Waitresses would not be honest when splitting tips with other staff
-I was paid 8 dollars an hour plus tips (below minimum wage) and they never gave me any tips, therefore paying me below minimum wage. Had to go to the career office to get it fixed.
-Wait staff did very little and got most of the money
-Hired way too many people. Weekly career fairs where they hire everyone who walks in
-Hours are extremely competitive and eventually the manager starts playing favorites
-Got scheduled only a handful of days the entire summer
-If it rains the park closes and you have no job for the day
    -Very little training
    -Not many procedures. Not professional
-Staffing office held an orientation event but never came, making everyone wait for hours

    Advice to Management

The staffing office needs to be fixed. They cant keep paying people below minimum wage and they need to be more professional. You cannot make people go to an orientation and not actually have anybody come and host it. Also stop hiring dozens of kids to the same position, you make it impossible to have a consistent work schedule and extremely difficult to get any hours.

    "Horrible company to work for"

I worked at Mountain Creek Resort part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You get a free season pass if you work at the resort

    Cons

    Just to name a few...
    * Staffing consistently screws up schedules
    * If you're actually a hard worker, then lift ops is not for you. It's frustrating being the only one doing work when 4 other guys are on the same lift as you.
    * If you're a female, you will get hit on on a regular basis and there's nothing you can do about it.
    * Shush is the most unorganized, ill-managed bars I've ever worked at or been a guest at. No one knows where food goes, work is unfairly distributed, and only the "manager's pets" get any breaks/ benefits/ etc..
    * The hotel bar is a joke and should be closed. There is no one to manage it, not accountability when work, king, and it's always left a mess for the next shift.
    * If you're promised a certain pay, don't expect to get it; especially if you work more than one department. I'm still waiting for the 38m hours of work I put in at the hotel bar.
    * Managers call you at the last minute and expect that you are able to cover a shift.

    Advice to Management

Get it together. Having received a masters in entertainment business and business management, it's disheartening to see a company with so much potential fail so miserably.

I worked at Mountain Creek Resort part-time

    Pros

Lot of fun, great people to work with. Plus you get a free pass if you work a certain amount of hours.

    Cons

In the cold all day, lessons can get frustrating. But just remember they are paying customers who are there for the experience.

    Advice to Management

Motivate employees a lot more. The weather can definitely drag people down. I liked the training sessions, they really helped me when I was teaching beginners.

I worked at Mountain Creek Resort part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I love the people I worked with in Rentals, easily one of the best departments I was in during my 7-year run there.

Some of the supervisors and managers are good, others are pretty rough.

    Cons

The pay is rough, but it's all high school and college kids there for seasonal work.

You're going to get crap from customers, that's the price you pay working in customer service.

If you don't make yourself known to your bosses quickly your hours will likely be cut on slow days as getting hours is competitive after holiday stretches.

    Advice to Management

Don't forget the people that make it all work. Too often you stroll through, complain and yell and then leave. Work a day in our shoes before you criticize, it isn't all rainbows and sunshine as you'd like to imagine.

    Pros

    Great atmosphere
    Great coworkers
    Good fringe benefits
    Skiing / snowboarding every shift

    Cons

    Pay wasn't ideal
The work is laborious if you don't like that sort of thing
