I worked at Movado Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Watch discounts
Some executives are very smart and they can teach you a lot

    Cons

People in Design and PDPM departments very unmotivated and unhappy
    Lots of politics
Talent doesn't matter as much as brown nosing. There are people who have become manager-VP in a matter of 3 years without having actual experience. What matter is "Who" you know in the club vs "What" you know.
VPs in the design and pdpm departments back stab each other and people underneath them
You are golden if you can spend hours and hours in a executive's office during after hours talking dirty politics and brown nosing

    Advice to Management

Nothing. They have been doing things the same way for generations .
The company is stalled with same people at the top for several years
Head winds are strong.. Survival is difficult with this culture and leadership

    Pros

nothing. maybe the candy they have in the lobby and near the printers

    Cons

This is my very first time reviewing an employer. I felt that it was necessary for others to know this information.

This internship was the worst I have ever held. They treat you like garbage and there is absolutely no sense of company culture. Also- regular business hours are 9-6 instead of the standard 9-5.

They treated all the interns like garbage. Like they were not even human. Shame on you, Movado.

    Advice to Management

    Appreciate your interns.

I worked at Movado Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Office looks like an art museum with tons of original Warhol pieces
    - Decent discounts on watches
    - 401K Match
    - Summer hours offered
    -FREE TWIZZLERS!!!
    - Company raffles tickets for sporting events and concerts

    Cons

-UNPROFESSIONAL behavior from VP/Director Levels tolerated in ALL departments (i.e.: bullying and belittling their staff (or sometimes another departments staff) in front of an audience, lots of eye rolling and mumbling in meetings with top executives present, repeating confidential information to Manager/Coordinator Level employees)

-DEMOTIVATING (i.e.: when employees speak up about REAL issues that they are witnessing or experiencing they are never respected the same and over time pushed out of the company OR made to feel so uncomfortable they want to leave...management prefers to push things under the rug...)

-POOR LEADERSHIP (i.e.: people who are nowhere near qualified are "running" departments & "developing /growing" employees).

-CLIQUEY ENVIRONMENT (i.e.: once you brown nose the right executive you're good as gold! Promotion for you next week!)

    Advice to Management

HR needs to get more involved and see what goes on behind closed doors. You have people in VP/Director roles who are master manipulators and literally destroy teams/departments. Employees are afraid to speak the truth bc they fear they will get the same treatment as others who have left the company. Help better your employees current situations so you don't lose anymore talent!

    Pros

    Decent brand recognition for Movado.

    Cons

Poorly managed company. Many there have been there for years and are kept on out of some sense of loyalty by the owners, but these people run the business quite poorly. They are very bad at inclusion of newcomers. Also very little diversity among workers and management. Unless you are hired on at very senior level there is no career path or it will take decades if it ever does happen.

    Advice to Management

Talk to staff other than your inner circle who have been there for years and are ineffective

I worked at Movado Group full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The only good thing is access to watches at a discount. Not many other pros other than enjoyed working with some of the people in the various departments in the company.

    Cons

The president of the outlet division is a narcissist who enjoys micromanaging, measuring every KPI, and demeaning employees on conference calls. If you're not in the clique, you will feel left out. They want you to take ownership of the store, but you can't deviate from the policies and procedures even when trying to satisfy a customer. Sales pressure is ridiculously high and you're expected to make sales increases while traffic is down and the company is tanking and while being tasked with many other things. The commission is a joke. The POS is seriously outdated even though it was replaced a few years ago. There is no growth or succession planning and they will hire from the outside.

    Advice to Management

Stop living in the dark ages and recognize the talented people you have working there. Get rid of the blatant favoritism and treat everyone fairly.

None other than you get a classic Movado strap.

    Cons

Management living in the 80's.... Things have change and the company is not forward thinking. Hardly new product sadly and dying company. Get out why you can.

    Advice to Management

Change everything. Affordable lux is dead. Be high trend fashion fwd thinking... Let's face it fossil is destroying the industry leaving you behind they times.

    Pros

The only pro I saw while in Movado was the few Movado for life or brand ambassadors. They were always a joy to work with and would from time to time bring in their vintage timepieces.

    Cons

Low wages compared to similar titles/retailers.
The smallest commission structure I have ever seen.
    Absolutely zero work/balance.
Be prepared to work every single holiday.
    Lackluster HR personal.
Quality timepieces have taken a back seat to mass quantities of overpriced and poorly made watches that Movado is partnered with (Hugo Boss, Coach, Tommy).
By far the most outdated POS system you may ever see in retail.

    Advice to Management

Quality over quantity. The company is straying from its roots and not staying true to the brands DNA. Quality, quality, quality! There is no reason that a Movado Bold with a K1 crystal should cost more than a classic Museum made with a sapphire crystal.

I worked at Movado Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Plenty of parking, new beautiful design space, work perks such as raffling off of suite tickets at Metlife stadium, watch discounts, awesome xmas party and raffle gifts

    Cons

PDPM is a circus with no ring leader. Get paid peanuts to work like a horse. Design VP's behavior is inappropriate and its tolerated. No support or appreciation from upper management. Constant initiatives that go nowhere. No true mentors to look up to as everyone is out for themselves.

    Advice to Management

Demonstrate leadership and show empathy. Be transparent.
