In a small town there wasn't a lot of business.

Treat the employees with more respect and work on coming down on employees who break rules otherwise you will never get the respect as a boss.

    Pros

Fast paced work environment with opportunity to franchise and own potential stores. Flexible hours, friendly co workers and good working atmosphere.

    Cons

typically minimum wage and not a whole lot of room for advancement which can be expected as a starter job.

    Advice to Management

No advice that I can think of. The management that was above me was courteous and very easy to work with at the same time.

I worked at Mr. Goodcents full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Air conditioned/ heated store, free employee meals.

    Cons

On payday, there is frequently no funds available in the owners bank account to pay employees. The tellers at the bank are surprisingly accustomed to this fact. The work environment is alarmingly toxic, rife with mismanagement, disrespect, and low morale. Staffing is a constant issue (or lack thereof) due to the unsavory environment. Owner refuses to pay overtime wages if you work overtime here, an issue hopefully being resolved. In one hour, two customers complained and were openly upset that the owner was mistreating and berating employees in front of them. Very awkward.

    Advice to Management

Ensure availability of funds to pay employees, cease berating and disrespecting employees in front of customers, pay overtime pay when overtime hours are worked.

I have been working at Mr. Goodcents full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I work with some of the best people I have ever met.

    Cons

You get to deal with a lot of nasty customers.

    Advice to Management

Honestly they don't need any advice. They work as hard as can be.

I worked at Mr. Goodcents (More than a year)

    Pros

The discount on food was the only bonus of working. I don't think this necessarily reflects the whole corporation so much as the location I worked. I don't know how the others were run, maybe I should have seen about a transfer.

    Cons

The working conditions at my location. We're absolutely terrible. My boss would cuss me out and call me names. I was overworked and underpaid. When I took it to upper management that an employee was still openly disrespectful to me in front of customers after a year of trying to work through it I was told I was just going to have to deal with it.

I worked at Mr. Goodcents part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It was a fun experience and I had a great time with this as my first high school job! Highly recommend the penny club

    Cons

Not much room to move up in the company. Once again, I was only in high school so the hours were limited and there wasn't much wiggle room for me to get more hours.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to the needs of your employers more. If I want to take a 30 minute break to eat and PAY for my sandwich that I just made? Why should I clock out? To save labor costs $4.00? Cheap.
