I have been working at Mr. Tire Automotive Service full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Ability to almost double yearly salary. Paid Holidays and two weeks vacation starting out. Substantial employee discounts. Great way to get your foot in the door for other similar opportunities.

    Cons

Long hours. 11-13 hour work days. Sometimes have 2 days off a week, sometimes only 1. Too much middle managing. Daily pep talks and sales meetings. Not all stores get properly staffed.

    Advice to Management

Allow employees to have more time with their families. Compensate employees for working well over required hours. Give store employees more freedom to do their jobs.

I have been working at Mr. Tire Automotive Service full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Because of negatives listed below there are many opportunities to grow within the company.

    Cons

Long hours expected. Runs a thin staff at the store level causing you to wear every hat in the store. No matter how successful you are at the management level it's never good enough. The pay structure is set up to look great with incentives but achieving those incentives is nearly impossible and even when you are successful there often a catch that allows the company to not pay. Big carrot on a very long stick.....almost always just out of reach.

    Advice to Management

Don't get sucked in by bonus offers. Establish a base pay that you're happy with don't expect much more than that. Be ready to do everything from oil changes on up as you won't have hourly service techs to do that. You'll always be hiring and short staffed.

I have been working at Mr. Tire Automotive Service full-time

    Pros

Employee discount is good. The employees are great to work with. There are always jobs available because of the very high turnover rate. No one stays very long.

    Cons

Typical retail automotive greed. Long hours , you are required to work 11 days out of the 2 week pay period. Bonus money is not there. Benefits are very expensive. Poor place to work.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your troops in the field. More off days, put less pressure on sales people to oversell and over price your products.

I worked at Mr. Tire Automotive Service full-time

    Pros

Plenty work in the shop. If you work 20 hours labor you get the $18/hr. If not $9

    Cons

Your get get payoffs according to specs (oil change=15m) bigger paying jobs often held for mechanics who have been there longer. You'll never make the $18/hr. True salary is $9 for hussling hard all day every day.

    Advice to Management

Stop passing sales from the newer guys to get the next car in so the older guys can get the hour pay jobs.
