    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Mt. San Antonio College full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Not many. You can't get promoted, if there is an open position, you have to apply for it with outside candidates.

    Cons

Because of the ridiculous non-promotion policy, and the fact that it is a union place (i.e. Lazy) everyone gets a step increase in pay their first 5 years. This means, if you do a great job and work hard... it doesn't matter, because your co-worker who shows up 2 hours late and plays Quake III for 4 hours also gets the same increase. It's hard to stay motivated when your supervisor or manager can't actually promote you. Insane insane insane. This place has "lifers" whose sole goal is to defraud to good people of California by being lazy and not working, and just generally creating a campus-wide passive/aggressive workplace where nothing gets done.

    Advice to Management

Run for your lives - get real jobs.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Mt. San Antonio College full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of great and highly knowledgeable mid level career managers

    Cons

Zero career path for minorities, top managers are rude, they tell their subordinates they don't know anything.

    Advice to Management

Replace Bill Scroggins, and diversify leadership. Quit the long cue step promotion system for managers.

I worked at Mt. San Antonio College part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Serves one of the largest community college populations in the country; diverse student population; safe and pleasant surrounding community; diverse background of staff and faculty.

    Cons

Typical of many California community colleges, a small but evident portion of the staff and faculty operate using personal agendas that are counterproductive to the well-being and success of the student population.

    Advice to Management

Not only screen candidates during the interview process for possible ties to personal agendas that are counterproductive to the success of the student population, but also remain aware that these personal interests may arise throughout the employee's tenure, especially over time.

I have been working at Mt. San Antonio College part-time

    Pros

Flexible work hours, upper management understands if you need to take time off to study.

    Cons

Upper management does not enforce rules equally. Some employees do not have to follow the rules, while others will get reprimanded for the same thing. A few employees will blatantly not follow the rules, and upper management will turn a blind eye.

    Advice to Management

Although there are office politics anywhere you are employed, it doesn't make it fair.
