    Pros

Good exposure to the analytics field and to large clients Great opportunity to travel India if you are in the Columbus program

    Cons

    1. You have to work ridiculous hours (apart from typical business hours, long calls every night with India). Long work hours doesn't mean they are productive, mostly full of internal bureaucratic discussions. 2. They will make you move cities based on "business demand". You have no say in if you are moving or not, they will make you move. This is not a typical consulting company where you commute to a client location, at Mu Sigma you move to a client location permanently (a lot of people live in Arkansas). They will trick you into moving to places with false promises. 3. They pay you less than the average consultant or analytics worker. The salary might be acceptable just when graduating college, but employees quickly learn they are terribly underpaid. 4. Management is terrible, they don't care about you and don't mentor/teach anything. All management cares about is the income from accounts you are working at.

Great Place to Learn/Grow but compromise on Pay & Life beyond work

Jan 9, 2017 - Manager in Northbrook, IL

    Business Outlook

    Pros

    1. Excellent place to hone skills; be it core Analytics skills, communication, project/team management 2. Young org - energy levels super high. You tend to work longer without even realizing 3. Rate of learning super high due to the overall construct & culture 4. Questioning status quo is a norm; encouraged to challenge and question anybody; which is great

    Cons

    1. Life beyond work might almost become non-existent sometimes; becomes consistent/constant as one grows. Not sustainable for all - Takes a toll beyond a point. 2. Young org also means lot of chatter and time spent away from work during work hours; makes people stay longer. So, its not just the work.. 3. CEO dictatorial and at times, downright nasty reprimanding people in large forums. Very unpleasant; do not approve. 4. Pay is very disproportionate; low compared to external market standards. Leads to lot of churn

    Pros

If you are hired from the U.S. right out of college - The training you receive is amazing. You have an opportunity to work for a large variety of clients across the states, and the people I have worked with have been very nice and taught me a lot. Interesting work, very good first job (if you can handle the Cons mentioned below) as it can set you up for a very good second job. Opportunities to live in places like California, New York, Seattle, Chicago, Atlanta.

    Cons

The downside of Mu Sigma is huge, and if you can't handle this then I strongly recommend staying away; Because of the way their business model is set up, the churn rate for employees is very high, the working hours are long, you can have calls 5-6 days a week outside of normal working hours, and can be asked to move on a dimes notice. There a huge communication problems in the company as far as setting employees expectations- and for these reasons most people leave after a few years. Possibility of being asked to like in Arkansas and other small towns - won't necessarily have a choice on location or industry.

    Great learning, awful culture

Dec 30, 2017 - Senior Engagement Manager in Chicago, IL

    Business Outlook

    Pros

    - Opportunities to apply structured problem-solving across diverse industries - The heart of the company sits in India, where teams of enthusiastic and highly-talented folks throw themselves at any and every problem with a pretty high degree of success - Occasionally you'll get to work with very smart people

    Cons

    - Horrid working culture. Consider yourself extremely lucky to be mentored, guided or even to work with a polite manager who isn't constantly trying to emulate the CEO's hard-charging, toxic behavior - Borderline exploitation of team-members in India with unreasonable working hours, salary - Missing middle-management layer, both in India and onsite positions. The company thrives on the efforts of new college grads who need to be managed, guided and mentored by more experienced folks. They've been unsuccessful in retaining such a layer. - Unethical practices, where both clients and employees are victims. A consequence of its "do whatever it takes" mindset.

    Pros

Great People Open Culture Fast Career Growth Challenging work Great place to start your analytics career Onsite Opportunites Responsibilities - You will do a lot more in this company at any point of your career than what you would be doing elsewhere

    Cons

Company is losing its start up mentality Few changes in the Organization policies recently may be unfavorable to performing individuals You will be reading a lot of reviews about Salary and Long Working Hours - But that is insignificant compared to the opportunities and career growth

    Pros

    1. Steep learning curve. You will work with at least 3-4 different platforms within the first year. 2. Opportunity to work with fortune 500 companies. 3. Direct client interaction is possible within 3-4 months of joining. If you are lucky, you might even get to drive some of the calls.

    Cons

    1. Working hours are undefined. Some teams start work at 9AM and finish by 12AM while others finish by 5PM. 2. I did not have any issues with the pay. However, my peers constantly complained about the same. 3. Deadlines can be unrealistic. Again, this depends upon your team.

    Worst company to work for

    Dec 19, 2015 - Analyst
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

You will surely love and respect your next job and your next company after working here!

    Cons

    1. Extremely poor work-life balance and long working hours. 2. Benefits offered to employees are not at par with benefits offered by other good companies. (For ex: no 401K, no stock plans, no discounts or other corporate perks) 3. Salaries offered are below the market average for similar job titles (no bonuses are offered and you are required to coordinate with offshore teams which means working late nights and early mornings on a regular basis, besides working on weekends). A typical day requires 12+ hours of work (seriously!!!) 4. Regular meetings are scheduled after 6 pm in the evening or on the weekends. (that's something you should get accustomed to if you are in Mu-Sigma) 5. Company's work culture stinks, which is shameful for a company that is started by a Booth graduate.
