I worked at Multiplex full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Some good people work at multiplex however they don't tend to stay.

    Cons

A lot of nepotism at Multiplex. Aims for a very professional image unpleasant Head Office full of unfriendly people.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of dull middle management obviously in with the bricks they prevent talented people rea hing potential at my time there l saw so many people leave due to bullying.

I worked at Multiplex full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Big projects to work on and potentially get access to some of the smarter people in the industry to learn from.

    Cons

The graduate program is comprehensive but can feel very degrading for university graduates. E.g. there will be a lot of printing and hitting forward in the document control rotation and laminating signs in the safety rotation. There will also be a lot of palming off of work to graduates and these tend to be the work that no one wants to do, e.g. make signs or marking up physical comments that an engineer/design... manager made onto a pdf version which isn't very stimulating work. Salary is also on the low side for the amount of hours you put in.

    Advice to Management

If you want to retain top talent from your graduate intake you need to keep the work interesting. It makes sense that the easy work will be given to the graduates/cadets but your graduates will want to be constantly learning so it's important to communicate to your Project Engineers who manage them to keep that in mind and mix in some interesting work with the boring work.

I have been working at Multiplex full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good and interesting projects. Employees are well resourced. Good Salaries, a little too much for some employee's level of output. Excellent HR.

    Cons

Corporate machine - out of touch with what happens day to day/on the ground. Communication very poor at project level and from Head Office. Poor supply chain relationships. Impersonal to employees - does not utilise employee's strengths and experiences to their advantage.

    Advice to Management

Get to know your employees - their background and experience, use them to the best of their abilities and to the advantage of the project/business. Communicate more - from top-down. Clarity is best, keeping employees in the dark is how misinformation escalates.

I have been working at Multiplex full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

An insight into the operations of a Tier 1 builder. Interesting projects to be involved with.

    Cons

Complete disconnection between HR and site teams with not enough construction knowledge to be allowed to impact decisions. Long hours, poor flexibility and work life balance opportunities. Site cultures can be good, however mostly poor. A company structure with too many leaders and not enough workers.

    Advice to Management

Transparency is critical. Given the demanding jobs, managers should be more personable and honest with their employees.
