I have been working at Murphy USA part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Higher than minimum wage base pay. $9.00 increase to $9.25 after 30 days, $9.50 after 4 months, and .25 raise every year based on merit.
Flexible schedules, work alone if you do closing shift, ability to advance quickly. I was offered ASM position after 1.5 years. ASM opens at least 2x a month and there's a $1 raise. After 2 years of employment you are offered insurance for yourself and/or dependents. Small crew.

    Cons

Sometimes working by yourself is hard if there's a gas spill or something extra going on while you're also on the register. Its not a job for everyone, so lots of people quit after a few weeks or couple months. Some think it's easy, but it can be challenging and they don't know how to handle it, so they quit.

I have been working at Murphy USA full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Meeting Wonderful Customers, Have made many Friends that are like family. Love what I do.

    Cons

ZERO work life balance, We get fed the Vision and Values of the Company but rarely see them exercised from upper management. Integrity? Don't expect it all the time, Only if you know the right people and they like you. Years of service and ACTUAL knowledge, mean nothing. If your asked your opinion... SHUT UP. I've been lied to many times. Don't expect all Stores to be treated the same on hours ect... It just don't happen. Celebrate? What? They took all that away. We don't matter anymore and Customers only matter 10% of what they used because that is their $$. Such a shame to see where we are headed.

    Advice to Management

Be more involved. Get out of the Home Office and visit Sites. Talk to the people that really make the business. Do Not believe your reports, do not believe the reports you are given. Hit the field talk to the real people that Make Murphy USA successful. Don't visit sites that are recommended to you by District or Region Managers, Visit un expecting sites Yes we are a Public traded Company BUT No where does it say you can't have a Family environment and still satisfy the Investors. We have lost that, I worked hard as many People have to Help Build the Company. Respect that. Bring Back the OLD Murphy USA. We can not lay this on Mr. Clyde I don't believe he gets the real Story. More reason for him to hit the Stores and get the real Story.

    Pros

This is great customer service experience.

    Cons

Not enough compensation for the amount of work.

    Advice to Management

Please up the pay for cashiers as this is a busy location and it includes a drive-thru. Lots of hard work with little to show for it.

I have been working at Murphy USA full-time

    Pros

Competitive gas and tobacco prices. Decent ability to work with schedules.

    Cons

I have never worked for a company that was so unwilling to help it’s emplo with day to day issues. Having to “put in a ticket” for “non-emergency” issues that could take literally 5 minutes talking to a person to get an answer. Instead we have to wait hours or even days for any kind of issue resolution. In case there is an emergency, you better be prepared to wait on hold for 45 minutes to AN HOUR before even talking to a human. Glad my store wasn’t burning to the ground, or no one crashed into a pump. The help desk is a joke with their ridiculous questions and treating you like you are an idiot.

    Pros

Management worked with my school schedule and allowed me to take days off if I had an exam or presentation coming up.

    Cons

For the smaller stores there's only one person working per shift with about a 30 - 60 minute shift swap. Doesn't allow to finish most of the cleaning and restocking duties especially on a busy day.

    Advice to Management

Schedule frequent meetings and assign duties that are achievable for that shift even if there's a big rush from the customers.
