I have been working at Murray Energy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The schedule is Monday through Friday from 8-5. Management is very approachable for the most part.

    Cons

The coal industry is very volatile. Don't expect raises due to bad market conditions. Additionally, vacation time has been shortened in the last year.

I worked at Murray Energy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay, laid back. Work is always needed somewhere or on something, so there's job security. Easy schedule to work with

    Cons

The management is indecisive, always changing jobs, or the way things are done halfway thru the task. Too much waste.

I have been working at Murray Energy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great salary especially for those without college degrees. Many opportunities to advance career with higher management positions. The CEO fights socialists and liberals daily in order to maintain our country's financial prosperity.

    Cons

Very demanding. Little to no social life outside of work. The CEO expects you to run a complex operation without people, but not entirely his fault. Coal demand and prices have crashed over the past few years.

    Advice to Management

Keep fighting for coal! Our COUNTRY depends on you!

    Pros

Pay, insurance, the brothers you work with

    Cons

    Long hours, bosses, scheduling, politics

    Advice to Management

It's pretty much a union vs company conflict. They try to make you just a number it's just a matter how will you struggle to survive. No work due to layoff. Blame it more to the Obama administration and epa rules

I worked at Murray Energy full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Rate of pay, health insurance, and 401k matching meet levels of acceptable industry standards.

    Cons

50 plus work hours per week and negative work environment generated by an inexperienced management team lacking ethical decision making skills because they are driven by fear of failure and not receive their "second salary" so they will do anything whatsoever to appear successful, and will support only those who follow their lead.

    Advice to Management

Answer the wake up call and take time to get to know, recognize, respect, and reward good employees and vendors who are the foundation of the company. It's time for the Bozo's to take responsibility for their own unethical actions and poor decision making. The future of coal is relying on it.
