I have been working at Murray State University full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Overall feeling of community among departments, generous holidays even for non-faculty, responsive management.

    Cons

Pay is on the low side, but it is a public university so that is to be expected. Questionable stability of the state pension plan.

I have been working at Murray State University full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I enjoy my job teaching in the Engineering program. The university is beautiful and is close to Land Between the Lakes.

    Cons

Administration do not value quality faculty. The average salary for peer universities is almost $20K higher than mine. Quality faculty leave all the time and administration doesn't care.

    Advice to Management

Pay the faculty based on average salaries in their field.
