I have been working at Mutual of Omaha full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Family atmosphere. Management is clear with expectations and wants to see their employees succeed. Performance based raises and bonuses allow the employee to feel appreciated and gives something to work towards

    Cons

Outdated building and needs more opportunities to work from home.

    Advice to Management

Keep working towards innovation and moving towards all electronic communication. Allow more PTO and vacation time and work from home opportunities in the beginning as the company is setup to do so it just makes sense to allow work from home from day one.

    Pros

Great pay, people and products. We are making a difference in our customer's life by securing financial security. People friendly and very supportive

    Cons

Technology way behind so not able to be versatile to implement change. Not enough work from home. Too much focus on hours worked for salary employees

    Advice to Management

Keep up your good work on costumer focus and transformation to improve processes

I have been working at Mutual of Omaha full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Mutual of Omaha's workplace environment is amazing! They make everyone, regardless of their position feel like part of the team. I enjoy waking up and heading to work every morning. Management style is open-door where you can address any concerns without feeling intimidated.

    Cons

The initial application/onboarding process is long and complex. - It's just part of the selection process that helps to weed out the candidates that wouldn't be a good fit in the long run.

I have been working at Mutual of Omaha full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Customer first company that also cares about its employees. Really great benefits, and is overall a pretty great place to work. The culture from the top down has started to change in recent years to more of a new age culture (casual dress code).

    Cons

Some aspects of the company are a little outdated. The building is old and could definitely use some renovations.

    Advice to Management

Continue to push the culture changes and company values. A lot of people are still working that were here when things were different, and there is push back, but most of the company believes in where we are headed.

I have been working at Mutual of Omaha full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits: they offer crazy cheap yoga classes ($20 for 12 classes), they match 6% of your 401k (and an additional 2% even if you don't have a 401k set up). Hours are can be flexible; you can choose when you come in and leave for your 8 hour day. We get typically 5-7 days of personal time a year, that can be used for sick days, appointments, or vacation, and that is on top of our vacation time, which you can accumulate up to 136 hours a year when starting out. Career-wise, there is so much opportunity at our corporate headquarters. You can start out in one field, and switch to a totally different field if you prove your worth.

    Cons

Slow to change, health insurance can leave you paying a lot out of pocket, caters much more to the older employees. It's headquartered in Omaha, and all the other offices around the country are for sales only.

    Advice to Management

Support and nurture your employee's career trajectory.

    Pros

    They treat employees well.
They are focused on the customer
As a mutual insurance company they don't have stockholders driving decisions

    Cons

They are going through significant change which can be challenging for some people.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Mutual of Omaha part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexible schedule, helpful co-workers, very respected company. Money can be good but is wildly inconsistent

    Cons

Management. They harass you nonstop but never actually help you. Expect to receive calls all day and night but no true field training or support other than scripted meetings. Manager speaks to all employees as children. No help finding clients. They want you to sign up all your family and friends then could care less about you, onto the next batch. It's a shame, there are some good people there that will help you and understand the struggle of just starting out in this field. Large turnover is due to toxic atmosphere from management. Seemed promising but was demoralized.

    Advice to Management

Put the right people in charge, a manager that can manage people would be a start...I'm being kind!
