I have been working at Mutual of Omaha full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Mutual is a forward thinking company. They focus on the changing needs of the client and create long lasting relationships. Mutual of Omaha knows the product is the advisor and the quality of the advice and guidance they provide. The company provides outstanding advisor career launching tools, exceptional guidance, and continued advisor development. For the personalities that fit this career, there is nothing better....Schedule flexibility, very competitive compensation plan (commission and bonus), dedicated leaders, well recognized name, large product portfolio and industry leading prices.

    Cons

Selling and serving careers are not for everyone.

    Advice to Management

Redirect the candidates that can't or won't do the job.

I have been working at Mutual of Omaha full-time

    Pros

Time Freedom, Money Freedom, Freedom to grow.

    Cons

Freedom is never free. Doing this was the hardest thing I've ever done.

I worked at Mutual of Omaha full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Large organization providing opportunities for career advancement and change
    Casual dress code
    Starbucks in lobby

    Cons

Work-life balance in some areas was not ideal
Scaled agile framework (SAFe) - causes lots of overhead (meetings) and actually reduces throughput, contrary to what PMO would have you believe
    Pays less than market

    Advice to Management

Listen to where your employees want to be in the future
Celebrate successes instead of simply moving forward with the next large initiative
Trust your employees - you don't need a consultant to help you make every decision

I have been working at Mutual of Omaha full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Contract bonuses are very good for transferring agents, especially if you want your S65. Does not use GDC model which is a huge plus. Leads are available. Only company I have ever seen that lets you pick up orphan renewals if you write additional business. Most importantly, you are NOT captive. You can keep your old renewals from previous companies. 6 different insurance categories. They do 401K plans too. Very low 'rent' fee for cubicle; $25. I think an office is $140? At my previous firm it was $450 for experienced agents.

    Cons

No in-house group heath insurance but you are free to get contracted with agencies that do it. Expectation is that you use Salesforce as CRM which is a good system unless you were using something else.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time recruiting experienced agents. Big untapped market if they realized how much flexibility Omaha has.

I worked at Mutual of Omaha full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Many products. Well-known company. Bonuses.

    Cons

Contract required so failure to meet production quotas can be reason for termination despite being an independent contractor 1099 not an employee.
Activity tracking can be overbearing so be prepared to have management on your back.

    Advice to Management

Make obvious that this is not a set your own schedule type job. It's not. Required meetings and activity tracking pressures you to do nothing except find the next sale.
All these are fine but it takes all your time. No work/Life balance.

    - the work or job duties
    - cafeteria & food vendors
    - clean building & environment/atmosphere

    Cons

Try to retain those who provide excellent customer service if their numbers or stats are differing than the majority.

I worked at Mutual of Omaha full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There’s no pros in working there.

    Cons

Bad atmosphere, are not open for diversity, Too much work for low salary, don’t care about employees, terminate employment without notice, expectations are high, and dinosaurs management feel entitled to treat you bad and unprofessionally. Advice: don’t work there.

    Advice to Management

More diversity, listen to employees, better appreciation for employees, renovate management, train and update managers to be more professional, update systems, lower expectations or pay better.

    Pros

    Benefits, work from home occasionally

    Cons

In same position for 5 plus years. Hard to move out of that department. We didnt get to attend all associate meetings at times due to needing to be on the phone. Other teams leave for offsite and holiday parties but not us as we could never leave the phones. Lots of politicas and schmoozing needed.

I have been working at Mutual of Omaha full-time

    Pros

We have a great office culture here, good work environment, your managers listen to you and know you by name, you have flexibility and control over your own schedule, we have a small office feel but have the support of the home office in Omaha, we do different activities throughout the year to help the local community

    Cons

Financial Services can seem like a lot to learn but the local office has a great program to help you through it
