I worked at Muvico full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Easy Advancement - I was able to work my way up after only a few years of being there.

Flexible Schedules - I never liked all the weird working hours, but I did appreciate that when I needed time off I was given it!

Employee Nights - Watching films before release, playing video games on the big screen, and even a Haunted House in the projection booth for Halloween ... always had some fun stress free gatherings!

Free popcorn & soda while working!

Free movies for you and two guests Sunday to Thursday!

    Cons

Drama - Working with primarily high school kids was definitely a challenge, but sometimes it was even the older adults that caused issues.

Raises - These were almost non existent! I think I got lucky the first few years due to advancement, but after that, it was nearly impossible.

Carmike buying Muvico - After they took over, they completely ruined the brand and brought in some of the most unprofessional managers I have met. I had never experienced sexism in the workplace before and had to call HR multiple times. They also micro managed to the point of frustration! All of this is what forced me to leave --- I also don't think I could have gone through another transition with AMC about to buy carmike out.

    Advice to Management

I think most the corporate office went to work with Paragon Theaters - I hope they're well!

I worked at Muvico part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great job for high schoolers! You get free movie tickets for you and friends, popcorn and drinks. They have fun employee events with xbox on the big screen. Festive atmosphere with friendly customers. Great place to make friends!

    Cons

Nobody will cover your position. They make you work Christmas Day. The managers treat you like you are lower than dirt. The work is pretty dirty and requires a lot of garage disposing and walking. They got sued for not paying employees the correct amount.

    Advice to Management

Be nicer to your employees. Don't fire people when it comes time for a raise.

    Pros

Great Benefits, Flexible schedule, Great movies

    Cons

Poor Management, Poor scheduling, no raise

    Advice to Management

The management at this movie theater wasn't really organized and half of them didn't even have experience in management. Advice was never taken from the employees and the management rarely listened to what the employees wanted.

I have been working at Muvico part-time

    Pros

You get to watch free movies and have free popcorn and soda while on the clock. Can bring 2 guest at a time.

    Cons

The amount of stress and labor forced upon you at minimum wage doesn't work.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees better and get multiple ushers. Being cheap is making your employees very unhappy.

    Gets you experience
    You lean customer service
You get to work in all different types of positions

    Cons

    NO TRAINING!!!
Crappy pay (only gets a .14 cent raise per YEAR!)
    Prices are over the top
    Customers blame you for everything
Management plays favorites and allow problem causing employees to stay.
Discipline is unfair (the punishment don't fit the crime)
Management doesn't take responsibility and just hide away in the office.

    Advice to Management

Help out your employees it's your job.

    I worked at Muvico part-time

    Pros

*Everyone (coworkers and managers) is willing to help you.

*Free movies for you and guests

    Cons

After Carmike Cinemas brought out Muvico, some of the benefits have been reduced or eliminated. There is no more holiday pay and you are only allowed to get 1 guest in for free. When Muvico was independent, you could bring either 2 friends or up to 7 family members during the week .

    Pros

Management was wonderful! I enjoyed working there right out of high school. I gained a lot of customer service experience.

    Cons

The customers seemed to think they can talk to you anyway they feel.

    Advice to Management

Listen to new ideas that younger people have because there were a lot of times where some of my coworkers had great potential lucrative ideas.
