    Positive Outlook

I worked at Muzak, LLC (More than 10 years)

    Pros

It is a very great place to work at, all of the employees worked together to make sure the jobs get done. The company all ways put safety first.

    Cons

The company had multiple warehouses open across the US. The company was sold and they started to close all the warehouses in the US. I feel the company should have gave the employees more time to move on to find another job.

    Advice to Management

The company gave me a chance to be come a supervisor , i think it was a great company to work for but the management i think all the manager should have said something about closing the warehouse.

    Pros

Having come out of a Bankruptcy, Muzak is shifting it's business model and investing more in sales and certain lines of business. This is a refreshing change from the 'Wait and see' mentality the company suffered from previously. Depending on the group you are in, they may have very ambitious goals. Currently we are working on a number of ambitious projects. I have found the work I am doing challenging, and enjoy the people I work with. We have a lot of new projects. Health care plan is inexpensive. This is a very musical group with talented musicians. Monthly 'City center' meetings include an update from the CEO and live music. Occasionally semi-famous musicians will play for special events. 'Muzak' is always playing overhead, typically one of their 'current hits' or 'Hot FM' channels.

    Cons

Muzak is below average in pay. They have had a pay freeze for 2 years now, they are not matching 401k right now. Although inexpensive, the health care plan has a high deductible/out of pocket %-not so good with a family if you get sick often. Although company appears to be turning a corner, it is YTD if things will turn in the correct direction fast enough. 'Muzak' is always playing - this is a positive or negative depending on your perspective.

    Advice to Management

Not much more to add than above.

Flexibility of work-to-personal time (depending on manager)
    Global capabilities
Amazing amounts of talent and connections

    Cons

Top-down communication is sporadic and inconsistent
Upper management sometimes forgets people are a massive asset
Growing trend toward corporate bureaucracy and inflexibility
General economy and Chapter 11 filing are constraining
    Some micromanagement and "politicking"

    Advice to Management

    Focus on key success factors
    Reinvigorate innovation
    Encourage cross-training

    Pros

Ongoing commitment to employee development; excellent training; great products; seasoned, expert technical support

    Cons

Draw -- no salary. Can be successful, but it takes time, so the company should provide a salary or additional compensation for deals during a 6 month ramp up period.

    Advice to Management

Provide more of a financial incentive for new AEs as the current plan is difficult to live on in a major city.

    Pros

the previous upper management team had more personal contact with employees in remoteoffices and wanted them to succeed. started with minimal base salary and small perks but could make some decent money if successfully selling.

    Cons

after chap 11 - new upper management came from outside and doesn't have the same flavor. started yielding the axe - went through 80+ headcount reductions and eliminated positions using inaccurate reasons. minimal base salary so performance helped put food on table and pay bills. reasons for terminating relationship were unjust when campared to others within group. the system sales ae comp policy needs changing to reflect closing business and should receive commission based on effort and success of work. AEs are subject to commissions based on performance of techs for profit and you are paid on profit....so if the tech takes to long and profit goes down....your pay suffers. the techs are not held accountable to bring the job it on time.

    Advice to Management

really enjoyed working for previous management. the system sales ae comp policy needs changing to reflect closing business and should receive commission based on effort and success of work. AEs are subject to commissions based on performance of techs for profit and you are paid on profit....so if the tech takes to long and profit goes down....your pay suffers. the techs are not held accountable to bring the job it on time
