San Mateo office is not compelling- can't compete with talent/offers in Bay Area. Poor leadership

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Competitive pay, smart and accomplished people, great business model. They've since been acquired and senior execs including the CEO to the SVP of engineering are gone now.

    Cons

Too much territorial behavior at the top made it difficult to do your job. The place was driven by fear of being yelled at by the CEO.

    Cons

Lot of cold calling and dialing. Lot of focus on metrics and getting numbers up.

    Pros

Adtech is a growing field. Maybe you can use this place as a stepping stone? Benefits aren't bad, because they are tied in with other start ups.

    Cons

You're working for dishonest people, and the long-term outcome for also-ran companies isn't kind. The vast majority of people who have worked here for a while have also gotten royally screwed on their stock options in the recent merger.

    Advice to Management

Don't expect much in the way of recommendations from your former colleagues, and do what you can to get this off your list of gigs as soon as possible. Trainwrecks aren't of much use to the old resume.

    Pros

Great opportunity to learn the ropes in data fueled marketing. Startupy vibe. Work with big brands.

    Cons

Seriously some of the worst work sociopaths I have ever seen in my career and they are all middle management or higher. Jerks thrive here because company is small and everyone is more scared than motivated to solve issues which results in kangaroo court when things go wrong. Lots of kids work here so they had to start editing suggestion box entries during meetings as many would use it to hurl childish insults at each other anonymously. The former CEO would come and tell everyone to play nice with each other. A company wide meeting about bathroom etiquette was needed at one time....

    Advice to Management

    Develop skills and integrity.

great team and culture in Ann Arbor office, strong performers usually have a chance to stand out and advance their careers

    Cons

longstanding underinvestment, or poor investment, in the product under previous management has creating an ongoing challenge for the client facing teams; San Mateo office is pretty lifeless

    Pros

This is a growing company in an exciting industry, providing employees with the opportunity to receive great experience, and have a good time doing it. The best part about working at MyBuys is the people you work with each day, they make getting up and going to work fun everyday.

    Cons

In an ever changing industry, you may feel some what disconnected at times with industry norms. More regular training and workshop sessions could easily provide more guidance for changing tides in the industry.

I worked at MyBuys full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of activities to build morale such as scavenger hunts and tailgates and happy hours

    Cons

Upper management panics and needs to find a department or individual to blame. Responsibilities get deflected and creating new roles and titles to try and improve "work delegation" is simply a front to satisfy office politics and present an environment of career development.

    Advice to Management

Just because an employee has seniority does not mean he or she is competent. Remove the toxic members of the team to build up the team.
