I worked at MySpace full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Strong software development team; very interesting projects; cool environment; open minded people who shared knowledge and experience. Transparent management who had excellent communication with all employees. Very good product managers and middle level management.

    Cons

Bad management decisions at the very top level. Lack of any vision or strategy to make the company successful, which eventually led to massive layoffs and MySpace's decline.

    Advice to Management

Stop rewriting the webiste every time management changes, find a way to capitalize the existing product with minor changes.

    I worked at MySpace full-time

    Pros

Free concert tickets, No one pays attention to you so hours are loose and you can kind of come and go as you please.

    Cons

The relaunch failed. It used to be a cultural nightmare because on top of a bad reputation the internal politics were endless. Creative and marketing couldn't align till the head of marketing left..and now the creative team got let go, so basically there is 0 direction.

There is nothing left at MySpace besides great content that no one sees because the brand is dead.

    Advice to Management

    Let it go.

This was the most challenging job I have ever had. The talent of the Tech team was astounding. The environment was open and there was an emphasis on knowledge sharing.

    Cons

Layoffs, layoffs, layoffs. THere is little stability there.
