    Pros

The people are the best. Benefits aren't bad, but c-level execs aren't transparent about future of company or care about employees.

    Cons

Don't keep bringing in outsiders. You pride yourselves on being a "local" company, but only hire from NYC/abroad. Also, yes, dev people are important, but care a little bit more about the rest of your employees too.

    Pros

The only reason - Some of the people

    Cons

MWG has the stereotypical Burn and Churn atmosphere. While the company pretends to believe in work / life balance, the more you do work, the more you're expected to work. I know at least 5 to 8 people who work 10 to 12 hours day at least 3 to 4 times a week, not counting weekends. There have been so many unhappy people lately that at least 5 have left in the past month with no solid job lined up. I'm strongly considering following in their footsteps. Everyone is exhausted, burnt out, and stressed.

The majority of the upper management team is a disaster. Many are micro-managers who focus on the individual defects the teams are working on rather than working on strategy and helping employees get better. There are a lot of egos and everyone is expected to "yup" them on everything. There is no room for questioning processes or procedures in an effort to find a better way, or at least to understand the reasoning behind the decisions. You question, you are ostracized. It is a very cliquey and political environment with a lot of egos.

    Advice to Management

Start looking at your employees as people with lives and treat them accordingly. Realize that we are selling groceries, not performing heart surgery. Be willing to listen to your employees' ideas and have debates about best practices. Add technical staff. You are overworking everyone, especially on the 4th floor.

I have been working at MyWebGrocer full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Pockets of really smart people
There are also a couple people who really care and want to try to help
    Pretty much everyone is nice
Many people can leave by 5

    Cons

Company has no idea what it wants to be
No guidance or transparency from senior leadership
    Complete operational mess
Very little opportunity for growth or promotion
Toxic "always on" culture on many teams leads to micromanagement and burnout
Zero respect for accountability, process, or structure
Not at all a startup or tech culture. They'll tell you they are but it's really not true.

    Advice to Management

Outline a clear strategy for the company and help each team develop goals that align with these strategies. Everyone is working in bubbles and no one has a clear vision for what the future should look like. I do not believe MWG can survive if it continues to function in its current state.

    Pros

There are a lot of individual contributors who are really intelligent and are the only reason this company is afloat.

    Cons

Starting with the easy stuff MWG wants to appear cool and hip in order to attract talent. It's only smoke and mirrors though. A few small special teams are able to take advantage of these perks, but unfortunately this only spreads animosity as the remaining teams are putting in ungodly hours trying to put duct tape on to keep the boat afloat.

Everyone is use to the never ending series of finger pointing, well except development, which can do no wrong in the eyes of management.

Speaking of management, there are not leaders at the top of this company, only managers. Dissenting opinions are not just discouraged, they are punished. Managers typically use fear as the primary motivator. The people at the top of the organization surround themselves with nodding yes-"men" and they lord their power over subordinates. Being a top down organization is not necessarily bad, However at MWG it is done without any knowledge or understanding of what's happening with the products or people.

It's plainly obvious that management is cannibalizing the business in order to appear more profitable in preparation for yet another sale. The environment in what was once a promising company has turned extremely toxic and has resulted in an attrition problem like I've never seen before.

    Advice to Management

Clean out your the COO, CTO, President and you have a chance. Do it not and you'll continue running the company into the ground

    Pros

Tech company, great people, good place to learn agency skills

    Cons

Promotions and raises are rare. Employees are often hired instead of internal promotions happening. Groups can be very cliquey and feeling left out is not uncommon here.

    Advice to Management

Everyone is equal here and works hard everyday. Please take into consideration those that may not be in your friend circle, they want to be included too.

I have been working at MyWebGrocer full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Nice office space
Outward appearance of a progressive tech company
    Business casual dress code
    Underfunded but periodic office events
Stigmatized but recently renovated game room

    Cons

    Poor benefits
    Minimal holidays
    Non-competitive salaries
    Increasingly traditional and inflexible management
    Surprise layoffs and frequent re-organizations
    Complete lack of organizational transparency
    Top-down decision-making in a bloated management hierarchy
Lack of involvement by executives with rest of company
None of the agility and adaptability needed to compete in the rapidly evolving industry

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to prematurely "mature" into a monolithic, traditional organization. Rushed deadlines, overworked developers, and lack of agility have resulted in a product built on a sandy foundation. Trust and invest in your employees, adopt a more progressive company culture and informaton-decision flow, and all aspects of the business will improve.

I worked at MyWebGrocer full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The employees are VERY hardworking, and have made up the heart of this company. I think that it is a shame that upper management is so resistant to investing in their employees who work day and night to make MWG as success.

    Cons

    - CEO is a bully, and the President is his puppet.
    - Very little opportunity for growth and low pay
    - HR tries hard to create a strong culture, but it is not financially supported by the executive team
    - Employees are very hardworking with very little recognition or reward
    - Clients are not given the attention they deserve - you should expect that to happen when you go 1+ year without an account management team
    - President is not qualified for the position he holds, and piggybacks on the work of middle management

    Advice to Management

The executive team needs to become more transparent, appreciative, and respectful to their employees.
