    Pros

Capable of attracting and retaining Dealer.com rejects.

    Cons

Micromanaged from the top down - CTO is at fault for this and hopefully will be removed eventually. Low salary. Flexibility has reached an inexistent level. Extreme burn out among people stuck at MWG.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of CTO. Stop alienating actual contributing members of the company. Barry should be doing more to communicate to employees. The entire company is aware that eComm will be going soon, address the elephant in your giant Mill.

    Pros

The individual contributors are really trying to make a difference.

    Cons

Company lacks strategy and tends to overpromise, but can't deliver.

    Advice to Management

Don't just say you value employees or that you are innovative. Do it first, then let the intended audience judge if you are meeting those goals. Hint: you're not.

I worked at MyWebGrocer full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some of the people who are left

    Cons

Management doesn't care how much they overwork people. They don't listen to the ideas and suggestions of the experts they have hired. Lower management are completely"yes men" and expect their teams to be the same way. All of their products are completely duct-taped together and instead of rebuilding from the base up to catch up to current standards and best practices, they just add more band-aids.

    Advice to Management

Start trusting the people you hire. Give them room to do their jobs. Fix things correctly rather than just trying to patch what everyone there knows is broken under the covers. Stop promising customers impossible deadlines. Start valuing your employees.

    Pros

    Lots of smart, talented people

    Cons

Management cares more about appearances and buzzwords than employees
No room for career growth, unless you suck up to people in management positions
Company doesn't listen to or care about employee feedback (even when it's requested)
    Constant company reorganization causes confusion
Passing blame between teams / "that's not MY job" is rampant
Extremely high attrition rate (mostly the smart, talented people that made the company a good place to work)

    Advice to Management

Actually listen to employees, stop pretending that the company is a "fun software development startup" and focus on growing the company and improving the culture.

    Pros

    Lots of events for employees
    Decent benefits
    Casual environment

    Cons

Constant restructuring of teams-- no clear boss, people stepping on each other's toes. Impersonal approach to management, people finding out they were being fired/laid-off before it actually happened. There was no cross-departmental communication, which led to a disjointed support system for the customers. Employee morale took a dive when I was there, from upbeat start-up feel to everyone keeping their head down and praying they had a job the next day. No one was happy. Seems like the company filled a niche that was needed for a bit but that the world has pushed past, and the employees are suffering as a result.

I have been working at MyWebGrocer full-time

    Pros

Reasonable benefits, semi-flexible hours, comfortable environment, great HR department with lots of events.

    Cons

Leadership with a mind set of start-up striving to be a full fledged company. Lots of overhead leadership with many different voices spouting directives.

    Advice to Management

Listen to industry standards and adapt to keep up with the true meaning of a corporate company.

    Pros

The people are the best. Benefits aren't bad, but c-level execs aren't transparent about future of company or care about employees.

    Cons

Don't keep bringing in outsiders. You pride yourselves on being a "local" company, but only hire from NYC/abroad. Also, yes, dev people are important, but care a little bit more about the rest of your employees too.

    Pros

People on my team and throughout the company are a pleasure to work with. I never feel like I can't ask a question or that I'm isolated. Very challenging work that keeps you engaged and room for growth. Manger is extremely flexible with work from home and other things that may pop up you are able to make time up.

    Cons

401k match is not great. Healthcare is ok, not horrible but could be better. Compensation needs to be adjusted due to the amount of work and effort people are putting in. We work so hard here put so much time and effort in sometimes it feels like it's going unnoticed. There are a lot of directors and pms maybe to many? It makes things confusing. Consider consolidation of teams. And growing technical staff to take work load off of them.
