I have been working at Mylan Inc full-time

    Pros

Good colleagues who work hard under poor conditions.

    Cons

Leadership is poor at best. Most are not empowered to make a decision. To some degree this simply flows from the CEO and President, but mostly is an engrained culture where everything has to go through one person to get approved, down to buying pencils. Vice Presidents are know as the company patsy's and most decisions make no sense at all. Some decisions are simply based on the mood of leadership. This can be very frustrating when the slogan "Do what's right" is tossed around with the nonsense. Other areas of the company don't seem as bad - but in Regulatory "Do what's right" is more of "Do what's right today" and then figure out what's right tomorrow.

    Advice to Management

Take a hard look at the leader in Morgantown and in the mirror. Is this how you want to be known in the community?

    Pros

Does a lot for the surrounding communities. Throws a decent football tailgate.

    Cons

Management is oblivious to the real problems. Employee morale is also not very high these days.

    Advice to Management

Go back to Mike's message of do what's right, not what's easy.

    Pros

Salary and benefits are above average for the geographic area

    Cons

The culture is really awful. Morale is so low. Management, from Associate Managers to Directors to Vice Presidents, do not appear to have the skill sets to LEAD or receive training when placed in these positions. Management consistently uses intimidation, cursing, and ridicule. Human Relations is aware. Spent more than 15 years in positions across different departments. THIS IS THE NORM. Such a shame that Ms. Bresch and other Senior Leaders cannot or will not acknowledge how this is holding the company back from attracting and keeping talent.

    Advice to Management

Ms. Bresch & Board - WAKE UP. Your vision is realistic, but NOT with the management practices being doled out day in, day out across the company. Empower employees by hiring and training excellent leaders and then HOLDING THEM ACCOUNTABLE.

I worked at Mylan Inc full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The position challenged me every day, I loved the projects, and I enjoyed the freedom to choose my own projects and methods to complete them

    Cons

The managers were very conceited, management was also very intimidated by their subordinates, and personal relationships caused a lot of strife.

    Advice to Management

    Get better management?

I have been working at Mylan Inc full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The employees are nice enough and smart. Lots of potential there under the right leadership.

    Cons

Senior leadership is uninspiring (refer to the string of bad PR events one after the other) and focused only on near term performance. Professionals from every discipline are micromanaged, approval of funding to do anything is worse than ever (sloooooowwww)

    Advice to Management

Stop the M&A madness, stabilize the company, consider hiring a new CEO (one that brings less baggage to the equation and can grow profits without increasing prices constantly) - Heather and Robert should retire at this point. To the President: empower your functions to create value, stop micromanaging everything. Start promoting based on merit, not connections.

I worked at Mylan Inc full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent location to avoid traffic. Used to be like a family setup and fun workplace but slowly this is disappearing due to lay offs and people trying to jump out of titanic.

    Cons

Most of the folks in IT are 20 to 25 years behind in their thinking. All they know is SAP and that too only ECC. Anything beyond is greek and latin here. After the CIO change early in the year, there were 2 rounds of lay-off's and during the second half of the year few of those left behind are quitting on their own. There are only 2 types of people that can survive here. Folks with SAP ECC knowledge (usually this is the friends and relatives of those that are in power) and fresh interns, as they are cheap and don't bother to question anything.

    Advice to Management

None as they won't listen to anyone and thinks they know everything. Most of the guys are worried to even speak up fearing about their jobs. Real weird group of people trying to push jobs to India and cheap contract companies as fast as they can and close the IT shop.
