I have been working at Mylan Inc full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Salary and compensation.
    - A big MNC.
    - Good reputation and market value.

    Cons

The cons which I am about to write is applicable to my plant (Hosur Steriles Facility) and not to any other plant of Mylan.
    - The work culture of my plant is very bad and not at all good for girls.
    - You have to face gender discrimination (not in terms of promotions because that happens globally through a online portal).
    - You are not allowed to wear formal western dresses (e.g. Formal Trousers & shirt or Normal Kurta with leggings) and you are forced to wear salwar suit with dupatta or saaris only in the name of Tamilnadu culture.
    - People mindset is not at all quality oriented and they try to demean girls.

    Advice to Management

The HSF plant is acquired by Mylan and prior to that it was a domestic company named Star Drugs but the plant hasn't yet acquired the values and culture of Mylan. Its still has the culture of Star drugs which is not progressive. The management should take care of this issue.

    Pros

Lot of opportunities to learn new technology, aggressive in expansion and adopting new technology.

    Cons

HR and Admin are very poor, not an employee friendly company and lack benefits in pay structure. Too many departments project management is poor and result in delays.

    Advice to Management

Need to look at employee benefits first and shall treat people as asset.

    Cons

Upper management is irrational and myopic. Company has grown beyond effectiveness.

  7. "Accountability"

    Pros

Bonuses are good. The benefits and holidays are great for management because they generally follow what the bargaining unit receives. The tuition assistance program is unprecedented; I haven't seen another one like it.

There is a casual atmosphere unlike other pharma companies and it has a hometown feel to it.

There are lots of great people that work here.

    Cons

Some employees show genuine dedication to the company and excel at their tasks but have the misfortune of working off shifts. 80% of management seems to walk out the door once first shift is over, effectively closing the door on any opportunity to be recognized.

Bargaining unit employees hold a great deal of power in the workplace and are paid more than some
of their supervisors. There is a constant "you vs. us" mentality between management and union.

There is a blatant issue surrounding lack of communication within the organization that has visible and repetitive consequences on productivity.

    Advice to Management

Give credit where credit is due and provide better direction for your employees. Challenge yourselves and those around you to hold each other accountable; if they don't achieve what is expected of them or have a consistently negative attitude, do something about it.

Get more technically skilled people into impactful leadership roles that genuinely care about employee development.

    Cons

-Recent negative public perception has made sales roles extremely challenging

    -Stressful
    -Recent lack of job security

    Advice to Management

Go back to Mr. Puskar's founding concept of "Doing what's right, now what's easy".

I worked at Mylan Inc full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Small pharma, great district managers, over-all enjoyed working there

    Cons

questionable leadership and future, but not unlike any other pharmaceutical company: it is all about upper management bonuses, so lay-offs always a strong possibility if profitability is "off."

    Advice to Management

Walk the talk: "Do what's right, not what's easy."
