I worked at Myriad Genetics full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Only the insurance coverage which you will receive the same at any other company at Research Park.

    Cons

There is no respect given to any employee that does not have a science degree above BA

    Advice to Management

Quit weeding out your best and longstanding employees. If I could rate this review less than one star (the review requires a rating) then it would be -5

    Pros

    Great Benefits
    Good working environment
    Nice schedule

    Cons

    Bureaucratic/political set up
Hard to move from department to department
Not a lot of room for growth for college graduate employees

    Advice to Management

Make sure all voice are not only "heard" but validated and take constructive criticism on how to make this company better. Middle management is the worst at truly taking to heart what needs to be changed.

I have been working at Myriad Genetics full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

great health insurance, health-minded company w/ workout room, healthy food choices, good work-life balance for most

    Cons

management feels very directionless right now. scrambling for lots of quick wins instead of looking at long term plans. Morale is pretty low right now and it's hard to get a sense of what the long term plan is at Myriad. Promotions are hard to get unless you are in sales or part of a business unit. Salary isn't very competitive for a lot of positions here and it's hard to get a decent raise once you're in.

    Advice to Management

Be more competitive with salaries and promote more people from a variety of departments. More training for managers so they can better mentor and coach their employees.

    Pros

Great job for people who want to make a difference, strong science behind products

    Cons

Company is unresponsive to market changes and demands, weak mid level leadership at the mother ship, salary and bonus structure make it very easy to leave this company

    Advice to Management

Increase salaries, stop making excuses for not responding to customer demands

I have been working at Myriad Genetics full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits. Decent starter wages, friendly work environment. Many shifts are very nice, 3-12 hour shifts or 4-10 hour shifts are fairly common in lab jobs.

    Cons

Virtually impossible to advance past a certain point in either wage or job. Most jobs are extremely monotonous and routine. Essentially as a lab tech you will babysit one robot or another and that's it's. Nothing is challenging, stimulating, or different. Advancement is extremely stagnant, and work moral is often very low. Few incentives to work hard.
