I worked at Mystic Lake Casino and Hotel (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Decent benefits if you ever reach full time, which is rare.

    Cons

Sovereign nation status - they do not follow employment or OSHA rules for safe workplaces. Harass women, and if you complain you are fired. Management is a joke - mostly tribal members that are uneducated. The work market is good - you can do a lot better for the same money now. Smoke everywhere. Lower class employees in all fields.

    Advice to Management

Stop the retaliation and grow up.

    Pros

Benefits & 401k, employee smoking room

    Cons

Favoritism, verbal, emotional, & mental abuse by management towards employees. All depts., but especially food & beverage. Guests & especially younger community members allowed to verbally abuse employees with no support from management, usually management blames employee. HR is a joke, if you file a formal complaint on management, you are told there will be no retaliation, yet everyone who has, has been fired with in 6 mos. or less. HR after their 30 day investigation, will always side with management. management, will always make the employee out to be a troublemaker. If you work hard & prove you are cable, & dedicated, it means nothing. Being a slacker & idiot, but a favorite of management, you get moved into better positions, no matter how much that person sucks at the job, those who actually deserved it are told," well they deserved it, they worked hard for it." It always felt like doom each day you walked in. unless your were a favorite or neighborhood kid of management, you worked every holiday & weekends, with no extra pay. Many managers would tell other employees about your personal things. employees would tell guests why someone got fired, which means management told employees why some one got fired. All this is supposedly against company policy, yet I have never seen a manager or upper management get reprimanded or fired for this.

It's a hostile, hostile place to work! I would truly have to hate someone to recommend them applying for a job there, so to ALL out there, NEVER, NEVER, EVER, apply for a job at Mystic lake, your life will be totally sucked out of you, you will be demoralized, & probably need psychiatric help for PTSD!!!!!!!!!!!! NO JOKE!!!

    Advice to Management

Clean house!!!!! get rid of ALL dept. management, especially upper management, start over, build true employee relations. One of your so called rules was that Internal guests(employees) ARE just as important as the external ones (guests spending money) Either practice what you preach, or admit that you don't care about your employees. Also, talk to all dept. employees to get a real idea of how their managers are performing their jobs when you do their annual review. ours are based on our performance witnessed by management, it should be the same for management. You don't see them in action sitting up stairs in your ivory offices. If you truly want to be the Best Casino in the Mid-west, then promote from with in before you go to the out side, all your doing is telling those who work hard, that they suck & are losers!!! Make your employees feel that they are truly important &n what they do matters. ALL employees, not just the favorite few. Favoritism IS the biggest problem you have.. TAKE CARE OF IT!!!!!!!! I wouldn't even recommend someone to go there & play.. if they what to gamble Id tell them there are better places to go, with better chances of winning!!!

I worked at Mystic Lake Casino and Hotel part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Easy job to get, although you won't make full time for several years, therefore no Bennies. You will work every holiday and weekend with no extra pay.

    Cons

An awful place to work. You will come to hate it quickly. Impossible to get a day off, as they can't get any more suckers to work here. If you are a woman you will be harassed and if you complain, you will be set up and fired. Fellow employees tend to smell and are not well groomed, but as long as they provide sexual favors to the management, they will be alright. Don't eat the food - its prepared in unclean kitchens. Smokey dirty atmosphere. Watch your back, as a fellow employee will stab it to move up.

    Advice to Management

Clean out all the old time management that got there from drinking and golfing and kissing up and start all over. The employees think the current management is a joke.

    Pros

None at all I rather be homeless or work at taco bell.

    Cons

This place is a joke of a employer. Be ready to be mandated for every single holiday and "special" event with no time and a half or holiday pay. Management in every department is a idiot. No pto ever in less you are a survivor. Rude people everywhere. Work conditions suck.Management. I would not even recommend this place to my worst enemy. Run for the hills.

    Advice to Management

Pull your head out of your butt.

I have been working at Mystic Lake Casino and Hotel full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Pay for the area is good, health benefits use to have an advantage but now you can get your own through the the government.

    Cons

Unfortunately, some management have deep rooted higher up connections, allowing for laziness, manipulation, claiming anothers work as their own, and negative bully like enforcement for their management style.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the frat house mentality, you've lost many great people over it, and still do, unless being employed for the last 20 years allows one to treat people badly, lie, manipulate, and overall kill morale.

I worked at Mystic Lake Casino and Hotel full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits are nice,a lot of great shows in the Showroom. Most of my co-workers were okay.

    Cons

Takes two-months for health and dental to kick in, bosses don't work with employees, transparency is thin, the supervisors can't make up their minds. I wouldn't even send my worst enemy to this place if he was looking for a job. Just when things are going good it's no you are doing it wrong.
Can't talk to anyone even for a little bit or the boss gets mad.

    Advice to Management

Quit worrying you will get fired and maybe there won't be one person running the casino.
