I worked at Mystic Lake Casino and Hotel full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Awesome coworkers in security
    - Promote from within
    - Decent pay for the industry
    - Definite sense of team, always be ready for help and to help
    - Shift becomes a second family

    Cons

    - Repetitive work
    - Un-ending cycle of shifts, it is a casino after all
    - Lots and lots of standing
    - Who you know and who likes you counts as much as or more than how good you are at your job for promotions (cuts both ways)
    - This job is my best definition of a grind to date

    Advice to Management

Not to security, but to almost all other management at Mystic Lake: get out of your offices and onto the casino floor to see what actually goes on in the building. The ignorance in the higher levels is astounding at times.

    Pros

Great tips. All departments work together as a team. Lots of positive energy on the casino floor between staff. Communication was never an issue. Excellent health/medical benefits and PTO!

    Cons

Customers weren't always great.. being 24/7, there were plenty of unappealing personalities. But that's with any customer service. Some supervisors had favoritism of staff.

Very organized employer with good benefit packages once you reach full time hours.

Be prepared to start with limited hours and pick up shifts as needed by employer. The working hours are not for everyone. You will almost always work on holidays and during special events.

    Advice to Management

Try to utilize your new employees better for less turnover.

I worked at Mystic Lake Casino and Hotel full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Working full-time at this company they do offer some amazing benefits.

    Cons

This company does not recognize holidays for their employees. The favorite game gets played a lot. The point system is a joke.

    Advice to Management

Really needs to improve and lead by example. The fact that some people get stuck working every holiday because they are not buddies with their boss is not right. Also the fact that all of the higher ups get to enjoy their holidays and actually take their pto while other employees get put on pto blocks all summer is not right. Really unprofessional to have supervisors that go out and party with people they manage. I feel like Little Six needs some major improvements on this area.

    Fire bad managers.
