I have been working at NAFI full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Positive work culture, opportunity for learning with flexibility, strengths-based.

    Cons

I honestly don't have a con to offer, other than the sometimes difficult life-balance, although that is true in most human services positions in the beginning of your career. NAFI-RI makes this life-balance easier through support from supervisors, management, and addressed it in trainings.

I have been working at NAFI full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

You learn to really trust your co workers and have the opportunity to really be proud of your work in supporting the youth. Great opportunity to hone your crisis intervention skills and there was a lot of freedom for staff to initiate activities, projects and games.

    Cons

High turn over means you're always playing catch-up in training staff. Lower pay than comparative companies, but it makes up for it with a strong sense of community.

I have been working at NAFI full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

You meet great people and may have some opportunities for growth.

    Cons

Management focuses too much on the business portion instead of the best interest for clients/residents.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate your good employees while you still have them and don't make decisions that will benefit yourself or the business. Make decisions that will keep the business running like making people who connect well with kids want to stay instead of making hasty decisions. A business with clients or residents can't run if you don't have neither in your business in order to make clients/residents want to stay you have... to keep people around that connect very well with them!!

I worked at NAFI full-time for more than a year

    Pros

lots of over time more than you want

    Cons

unsafe environment. Management expects staff to put their lives in high crisis situations. Police are called several times for disturbance. There is potential for getting burned out. Management has the right words to say around parents. As soon as the parents leave The other side of staff comes out. They target certain teens to set them for restraints . They have clicks like high school grown ups. They set staff... up when you speak your mind and concerns. Be prepared to be manipulated by teenagers. Several 51a are files on staff. Management is not supportive.

    Advice to Management

Grow up. The job is difficult. The pay is poor. Try listening to your staff instead of yessing them to death so you can leave your shift on time. Try showing up at the group homes instead of ridiculing shift reports work in our position for a week.. Im sure you are all snickering now.
