I have been working at NAPA Auto Parts full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It’s a good company to work for if you can learn fast and have a positive attitude towards new challenges everyday. You will move up fast if you are driven to become grater. Opportunities are always available at Napa Auto Parts to grow.

    Cons

If you can not motivate others to help you with your daily tasks, it will be difficult to be successful in this field. It’s a team effort.

    Pros

    Benefits, weekends and holidays off

    Cons

No support from upper management, they don’t listen to employees, and are a little late to the “retail game”. They pride themselves on being a Wholesale company and now that they’re trying to get more Retail and DIY customers, they are lacking in the wholesale department and losing focus on their loyal wholesale customers.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees! Pay employees what they’re worth. Pay employees equally. Don’t blame sales reps for low numbers, get out of your offices, get on the road, and go visit your wholesale customers and hear what they have to say about the industry.

    Pros

If you work at a good store, then you climb the ladder quicker

    Cons

If you work at a bad performing store, you will stay in the same position and not progress, and not earn incentives

    Advice to Management

Terminate people who are poisonous to the crews moral

I have been working at NAPA Auto Parts full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

By far the most knowledgeable of parts companies, with the best resources, vendors, and programs available for wholesale customers.

    Cons

Behind the times, and playing catch-up to the retail market, but currently implementing new strategies to be competitive in the D.I.Y. market.

    Advice to Management

Staff your stores. The competition has plenty of employees to help their customers, which creates repeat business. Our great company has a terrible habit of tying to get more and more productivity out of less and less people, causing burn out, employee turnover, and poor morale, which also causes relationships with customers to never form.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at NAPA Auto Parts full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Wage was decent for the level of education required but nowhere near a living wage.

    Cons

Awful company culture, nonexistent work-life balance (50+ hour weeks), dismal career advancement opportunities, impossible sales metrics mean you never receive a bonus, disconnected management, horrible customer service because everyone is so burnt out, archaic computer system, and older employees who are outright discriminatory towards younger ones but nobody does anything about it. The CEO is a greedy slimeball who sees employees as less than human beings.

    Advice to Management

Maybe work more than 20 hours a week and actually pay attention to what’s happening in your store. Also, a 30 minute lunch is not long enough for a 10+ hour shift and no one takes the 15 minute breaks because they can’t. Take care of your people and the talent will stay.
