I worked at NAPA Auto Parts full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good benefits and fair salaries. It was a very overall supportive environment, that can be demanding

    Cons

Work Life Balance can be out of wack at times. Lots of promises get made and then do not get followed through properly.

    Advice to Management

When Discussing positions and internal movement make sure to keep the verbal agreements and promises. You should not have to get everything in writing to make sure it is enforced. Overall a great place to work and miss the friendships he most.

I worked at NAPA Auto Parts (More than a year)

    Pros

Amtower Auto Supply was one of the best jobs I ever had! They're amazing caring people. They treat their employees like family. The was always something going on for the holidays. The owners, managers, and other employees are very caring, friendly, and reasonable when it comes to what you need.

    Cons

The only con I can think of is how hot it was in the warehouse during the summer and how cold it was on the dock in the winter. Other then that I have no complaints

    Advice to Management

    If that's what you want.

I worked at NAPA Auto Parts full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I really liked the people I worked with and most of my store owners. Compensation was decent with full benefits.

    Cons

When sales are down your the first to get cut... Their expectations for sales people is sales reps are ridiculous. Lots of micro managing and with tons of redundant reports. They expect you to make sales quota while you are stuck doing store inventories, projects, and everything else that takes you out of the field. Was a really great company to work for years ago, but they are moving in a direction that doesn't care about their employees.

    Advice to Management

Most of the management was new at my location and they could use a lot of training. Blind leading the blind...

I worked at NAPA Auto Parts full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Discount on parts.
    Relationship with customers.

    Cons

    No support from upper management.
Good ole boy mentality rules often apply, play the game or get played.
Impossible to fill positions, often a dozen stores fighting over 1 or 2 applications.
Too many hands in the cookie jar - Each level of the company from the original purchase of an item marks it up and sells it to the next, some stuff is cheaper for the stores to go buy from Sams/Walmart than from the DC.
Stores are forced to purchase supplies from an overpriced supplier.
Amazon is gearing up to steamroll the brick and mortar stores like blockbuster of yesteryear.
The company has a reactive attitude rather than proactive attitude.
The entire company as a whole operates in independent cells where each area (major city/DC) operates essentially however it wants with no obligation to cooperate with the others, transfers within the company are virtually impossible unless you are at least management else you are told to quit and apply somewhere.
Training is non-existent, absolutely quintessentially non-existent. All positions are at the mercy of whoever is around to teach them what they know and that extends to what they learned from others. There is no training standard and the online resources are outdated, laughable and looked down upon by management as a waste of time and associates are not given any time to actually invest in them.
Compensation packages are below that of your average restaurant, company refuses to budge on paying one position more because it would mean adjusting the whole pay scale so they adhere to an outdated pay scale and can't understand why they can't get a single application when half a dozen places around the city are spamming the airwaves hiring for $6 more an hour.

    Advice to Management

Recognize that it's not 1980 anymore and proactively address the issue of Amazon entering the game. Doing the same thing and not changing with the times is how you end up like blockbuster.

Pay is okay but it could be better.

    Cons

With 90+ years of business one would think they would be more stable. They move Corporate Management from district to district to much. That in turn means they move personnel at the company store level around too.

Personally I feel that makes things unstable.
