I worked at NAPA Auto Parts part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Fun job for a student and good hours. Above minimal wage so that is a plus as well.

    Cons

Employees are not that knowledgeable that are full time. Poorly run and maintained

    Advice to Management

Should "cut the fat" and when you see a lower level employee that knows more than and upper level employee you know there is a problem.

I worked at NAPA Auto Parts full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Job security: It would take a lot to get fired from this company
Benefits: Decent retirement and benefits program
Employee discount: You can purchase auto parts for roughly 50% off depending on the product

    Cons

Stale culture: I worked at headquarters and most of the people were 15-20 years older than me. There was no camaraderie. The environment was very stuffy.
Low salary: Relative to market, very low salaries. Bonus also only came once in three years for my group.
Limited growth opportunity: Everything moves slow. The company doesn't make big moves and people stay a long time. This leads to limited opportunities internally.
Poor review structure: I would assume the reviews lead to some form of direct pay increases, because everyone gets horrible reviews. We were graded in multiple categories on a scale of 1-5. I don't know if I ever got a 5 in anything meaningful, and averaged less than 3 overall. I spoke with others who had worked there a long time and they said they always get less than 3 as well. I consider less than 3/5 to be an unsatisfactory employee.

    Pros

    Great benefits.
    Casual working environment
Easy to access higher level associates if needed.
HR department easily accessible when you had questions about anything

Didn't inform me of the max pay range and was. I was hired on at max because I had 5 years previous experience and they wouldn't budge on pay even though I had an exceptional review from my manager as well as my manager had added other responsibilities that were not pertaining to my actual position.
