RecommendsPositive OutlookI have been working at NASA Glenn Research Center full-time for more than 5 years
Pros
NASA has flexible work hours, great benefits, unique projects, pays well, and has a great retirement plan. More time off than pretty much anyone else and an annuity too! There's not too much to dislike.
Cons
Government work always has budget problems. If you're a real go-getter the red tape and process can be a real drag. There aren't a lot of in-work perks like free coffee or snacks because of the government process. Middle and upper management can be a crapshoot on who you get because time of service is more valued than quality of service. The buildings and workspaces are outdated but there are plans to improve them over the next ten years.
