I have been working at NASA Glenn Research Center full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Majority of employees are genuinely friendly and eager to help, large pool of engineering and research staff within the center, substantial aerospace history and organizational prestige, numerous opportunities for training and educational advancement, no hard deadlines, exceptional work life balance, opportunities abound for broad cross-project exposure, relatively easy to influence personal project tasks and assignments, excellent job security, steady and substantial funding level and resources

    Cons

Out of touch, weak and dishonest research and engineering senior leadership, unstable projects with low return on investment, risk-averse culture, can't do attitude, challenges attracting and retaining quality talent, below average wages, no accountability for poor performers, financially irresponsible projects with significant overhead/waste, privileged senior employees, business travel often pursued for vacation perks, excess number of middle managers with no defined role, poor emloyee ethics, cross-center organizational politics rampant and often cut-throat, stifling bureaucracy, antiquated infrastructure and facilities, difficulty attracting valuable industry partners, non-agile workforce, employees not highly respected or valued by management, limited opportunities for career advancement, teamwork and collaboration discouraged based on current promotion model
