I worked at NATEK (Virginia) full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I sincerely loved and embrased this job with all my mind, heart, & soul for 3+ years.
Never have I put so much time and effort into my professional career as I did here.
The management personnel I worked with at Natek were beyond commendation.
It was a 3+ year chapter in my professional career work life that will remember forever.
I miss them all dearly. It was my total pleasure to serve.

    Cons

US Congress cut the federal budget for USDA contractor spending. Natek was not able to sustain my employment. That destroyed my lively hood. My job income and retirement.
I now live on a Social Security fixed income. Went from $90+k /yr to $16k. Life is very hard.

    Advice to Management

Don't rely 100% on the Woman Owned Minority Small Business Enterprise qualification status to qualify for a 5-yr government contract award. With the expectation for supporting long term growth of a small business. When the re-bid finally comes around somebody else will certainly under bid and take over the new contract.

    Pros

Management treats you with respect...you're not just a resource to them.

    Cons

They've lost their Minority Owned Business Status which may impact their ability to snag government contracts.

    Advice to Management

Just a little more effort to keep employees apprised of new business developments and opportunities would be nice as government contracts aren't as stable as they used to be.
