I have been working at NBCUniversal full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I love the work-life balance at NBCUniversal and have had great managers and teams in the 5+ years I've been here. Lots of smart and hardworking people here. Was able to maneuver to different jobs within the company without a lot of difficulty or roadblocks. For a big company, I do think we are able to move fairly quickly when needed.

    Cons

Top down communication can be improved as to why decisions are made or not made. Oftentimes senior execs have trouble making tough calls so we're left without clear goals or directives as a result. As with all entertainment companies, there are often egos & politics you have to work with and around.

I have been working at NBCUniversal full-time

    Pros

Overall a fun place to work.

    Cons

Small cog in a very big company. The company does lots of cool stuff but doesn't market it internally well.

    Advice to Management

Follow Disney's lead and give more than four park passes once a year. Employees spend money at gift shops and restaurants just like everyone else.

I worked at NBCUniversal full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Company had a strong sense of encouragement for employee internal growth and support. Perks connected to theme park and film company.

    Cons

At first employee was flexible with work schedule (as promised when hired) but slowly encroached on our previous agreement, unfortunately.

I worked at NBCUniversal as an intern

    Pros

You can eat lunch on the lot, people for the most part are friendly enough, looks good on a resume

    Cons

Where to begin...first of all understand that most of the internships are CORPORATE unless you work on the lot. Corporate means its all offices, kind of a stiff vibe, but hey that's most networks. Internship-wise a lot of what you'll be doing is administrative and not very hands on stuff. I thought it's be more hands on but because the company is so big they don't really have a "need" for interns--hence why they pay you in pennies. Also the recruiting staff is not very reachable for questions or internship opportunities. They also don't have much contact with the department managers/supervisors so the few times they did put on events, I couldn't go because my manager needed me for something else.
My advice is if you get it, do it for the resume but don't expect much else out of it

    Advice to Management

Interns should be able to explore the company and the events/promos they have going on, not just sit at their cubicle all day doing admin stuff

I have been working at NBCUniversal full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The health benefits and overall fun and laid-back culture of this company are extremely hard to beat. The people at this company are a lot of fun to work with and are also helpful, creating a truly collaborative environment.

    Cons

The pathetically low salaries and my department in particular is not keen to promote people.

    Advice to Management

Universal's salaries are not competitive in a world where Netflix is taking over and stealing employees from traditional motion picture and television studios. Netflix pays top of market salaries - it's no wonder people are defecting and moving to Netflix or other companies who pay people's market value worth. To combat this, Universal higher ups should seriously consider bumping up their salaries to remain competitive as a place where people want to work.

I have been working at NBCUniversal full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Most of the employees in Technology are really good-hearted, hard-working individuals with a common goal of providing quality technology services. Many really intelligent technologists that know their company and brand well.

    Cons

Since about mid-2016, technology leadership has taken a turn south. There is no more company loyalty from executive leadership. Extensive internal politics that have lead to executive leadership saying one thing, but acting in an opposite way that is unethical and violates the credo of NBCUniversal and Comcast. Executive leadership has appointed people who are "Yes Men" because free-thinking is frowned upon. Morals, ethics, and standards have been completely thrown out the window.

    Advice to Management

Show your employees loyalty. If you are not going to be loyal, at least be honest and allow people to work and live with some dignity, along with the freedom to seek greener pastures.

    Pros

Amazing, high-profile projects that quickly flesh out a resume.

    Cons

Frequent pay delays, can feel like pulling teeth having to get an update. Longest I've waited for an invoice is 13 months, even when they told me 30 days.

    Advice to Management

Worry about paying your employees as promptly as you'd them to turn in their work.
