I have been working at NCI Building Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Contrary to a lot of the complaints about this company, at least where I'm at, the management is unobtrusive. Relaxed work environment even with expected hard deadlines.

    Cons

Direct competitors are sister companies whom we sometimes do work sharing with. Lack of a clear job description and hierarchy above your immediate superior.

I have been working at NCI Building Systems full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The offer great Benifits. The upper management has lots of changes that they say it's for a better working environment.

    Cons

Being geared to keep the new younger staff without consideration of the hard worker that has been there a long time to help the company grow.

    Advice to Management

Please don't just look on how to get and maintain the younger staff but consider without forgetting the older staff who's been there growing the company the entire time.

I worked at NCI Building Systems full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Plenty of work to keep you busy. Good benefits. Clean facility. Safety oriented with a good behavior based safety program.

    Cons

Operators are poorly paid and work 60-70 hours a week. This ensures a large turnover rate which means new operators are being trained constantly, meaning productivity and efficiency suffer.

    Advice to Management

Do whatever it takes to keep good employees. Pursue a second shift to allow employees a better work/home balance.

I worked at NCI Building Systems (More than a year)

    Pros

Two weeks vacation upon being hired is a pro. There are some very hardworking people in this company that want to help you succeed.

    Cons

I felt overwhelmed to the point that each day I walked in the office, I could feel my blood pressure spike. Do not expect much for your "bonus". No opportunities to get outside of the office. I truly believe this position lowered my IQ. You will notice from day one, everyone hates their job. The company was understaffed, yet I witnessed the company let go of several people. The daily meetings and reports seem to be ineffective.

    Advice to Management

Invest more money in your employees. I recommend the company comes up with a better training structure. I anticipate the new management making BIG changes if they want the company to stay relevant in the metal building industry. Also it is 2016 - I would consider allowing more remote access for employees. Being in this office 40 hrs a week is not healthy.

I worked at NCI Building Systems full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people (before) who treated everyone like family. I made so many good friends there. People cared and looked out for one another.

    Cons

New vision and leadership. The family atmosphere is gone. Senior Management seeks out 20 and 30 year olds from public accounting and disregards long standing employees. No opportunities to move around unless you brown nose. External auditors run the show. Worked people to death.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate diversity and break the boys' club mentality. Don't forget your roots and throw the people who made NCI great to the curb just because they are older. Be honest with employees about their futures with NCI.

I worked at NCI Building Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Steady schedule, and enough breaks throughout the day.

    Cons

Difficult to move up within the company. The pay is no where near enough for the amount of work done as a BSR.
