I have been working at NCI Building Systems full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company is going through some change, and while some see change as negative, change is necessary to grow. Some changes are hard, while others are easier to accept, but at the end of the day - I truly believe the management team is trying to do what's best for the customers, their employees and overall, the company.

Company is working on standardizing throughout, which allows for more transparency, efficiency and better compensation.

    Cons

Management needs to be better at listening to their direct reports to improve processes. This will create buy in, trust and efficiencies.

    Advice to Management

Don't be a roadblock. Be a channel for two-way communication.

I have been working at NCI Building Systems full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Well known brands, not always the best reputation. It still has the ability to be a good company but C-Management is too consumed on making stock price look good for other reasons.

    Cons

The new upper management are bean counters. The morale has never been this low. Nearly everyone I know is either looking for a new job or is contemplating looking for a new job.

    Advice to Management

Hope your compensation packages help you live with conscience when you are gone. Who am I kidding, you have no conscience.

    Pros

Plenty of work to keep you busy. Good benefits. Clean facility. Safety oriented with a good behavior based safety program.

    Cons

Operators are poorly paid and work 60-70 hours a week. This ensures a large turnover rate which means new operators are being trained constantly, meaning productivity and efficiency suffer.

    Advice to Management

Do whatever it takes to keep good employees. Pursue a second shift to allow employees a better work/home balance.

I worked at NCI Building Systems (More than a year)

    Pros

Two weeks vacation upon being hired is a pro. There are some very hardworking people in this company that want to help you succeed.

    Cons

I felt overwhelmed to the point that each day I walked in the office, I could feel my blood pressure spike. Do not expect much for your "bonus". No opportunities to get outside of the office. I truly believe this position lowered my IQ. You will notice from day one, everyone hates their job. The company was understaffed, yet I witnessed the company let go of several people. The daily meetings and reports seem to be ineffective.

    Advice to Management

Invest more money in your employees. I recommend the company comes up with a better training structure. I anticipate the new management making BIG changes if they want the company to stay relevant in the metal building industry. Also it is 2016 - I would consider allowing more remote access for employees. Being in this office 40 hrs a week is not healthy.

    Pros

Some opportunities can exist. They have opportunities but mgmt does not train or groom their subordinates to move forward in their career path.

    Cons

Management is more focused on proving each other wrong instead of correctly completing the projects.

    Advice to Management

Allow your team to use their skillset without interference. Most upper mgmt get involved far too much in the day to day activities. They should use that energy to build goodwill between corporate and the remote sites.

    Pros

The Insurance is okay. Free Fruit on Wednesday, other than nothing.

    Cons

Management makes changes without thinking through them. more of an impulse decision it seems. Most departments are understaffed, and have been this way for years. The company refuses to improve quality of work life within the company.

    Advice to Management

Stop caring about reports, and care more about the customer.
