I have been working at NCI full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Good integrated onboarding, benefit management.

    Cons

They are famous for stating well below market with hints of a raise later, then when time comes for a raise, you get 1% because "the VPs control all the raises."

    Advice to Management

The revolving door for skilled workers will continue to spin until you pay them competitively.

    I worked at NCI full-time

    Pros

Some cool people, good professional development,

    Cons

Benefits kept getting cut to save money, higher-ups don't seem to care about employees (only the bottom line), not great decision-making when it comes to hiring/firing, lower pay than competitors, conservative environment (don't plan to have much fun at work)

I worked at NCI (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible schedule. Very cool and respectable lead. Still have a ton of respect for him. He communicated things very well.

    Cons

Watch out for passive aggressive architects. Nicest people when you speak to them but when you aren't around, be wary. Top guys openly belittle team member vendors on telecons and did not care even when someone spoke up and said that person was on the telecon. In the beginning, my lead said that the architect thought he was supreme and loved to do everything himself. All true- along with his sidekick- mr. negative. Lack of communication was rampant especially with remote personnel. This is one reason why a former coworker jumped ship.

    Advice to Management

Stop the backstabbing by top guys on teams. Communicate better about what is happening on a daily basis. If top guys have a meeting about changes, those changes should be made aware to remote personnel instead of them finding out a few days after the fact and then being berated for doing the wrong thing.

Easy training, easy job, good people to work with, flexible hours, good benifits. easy to pass monthly reviews and meet hourly goals.

Customers are often rude and disrespectful. Can be an unprofessional environment, dur to the relaxed nature or the job and losition.

    Advice to Management

Give better monthly reviews, allow reading or writing on the floor in the work space. Be more active with emloyees and make sure that policy and training is up to date with employees.

    Pros

Most employees are willing to help and support others needs

    Cons

Employees aren't valued or respected. Work is constantly spread between whoever is unfortunate to not have left yet. More tyranny than teamwork.

    Advice to Management

I worked at NCI full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It's a job until something better becomes available. Opportunity for financial assistance with continued education. They're really no other pros that come to mind.

    Cons

One of the most under paying employers in Northern Virginia's Government Services Contracts. Doesn't promote a healthy organizational culture. Understandable, given the average employee salary is 50% to 75% less of those performing the same job with other area employers.

    Advice to Management

From Northern Virginia to Columbus Georgia. The word cheap is synonymous with your business. If you are going to stay in the business of providing the Government with services pay close attention to the term Best Value. Because the government doesn't practice what it teaches, when you bid on an LPTA it doesn't mean you should pay top barrel employees bottom of the barrel salary's because you have then over the barrel and they need to pay their bills. Be bold and do something different, build trusting relationships with your employees and maybe you will instill lasting loyalty. Bottom line, employees are assets to a businesses future and not just a means to an easy profit.
