    Pros

Teamwork, interesting design work, hands on, good people at lower level, chance of travel, theoretically up to date technology.

    Cons

From the CEO down, a brutal attitude of hire and fire. Cuts, cuts, cuts to compensation and benefits. Immoral attitude to employment rights and laws.

    Advice to Management

Employees are people like you, not scum that you hire and fire, use and abuse.

I worked at NCR full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Unlimited overtime , company vehicle, laptop ,phone. Worked with a good group of guys

    Cons

Staffing was low, took too long to train someone and to get them onboard. the use of on call to help with the lack of staff ( called in on days off). Holiday season mandatory 6/10hr days.

    Advice to Management

The territory managers were easy to talk to but were handstrung by upper management for increase the total number of employees to adequately manage volume and the diverse customer base. Also the inevitable change in management and the need to recreate the wheel which always leads to doing a lot of the same things from the past and running into the same problems. Lastly . understand that to be novice at everything make no one masters of anything.

I have been working at NCR as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great culture; people are generally great to work with
    Relaxed but productive work environment
Management generally accepting of movement to other teams/divisions if employees wish to pursue other arenas

    Cons

Lack of communication between silos. Quality can sometimes be lost due to lapses between business and BA teams, or between BA teams and development teams
Horizontal mobility seems to be more common than vertical mobility/internal promotion

    Advice to Management

Give new hires/interns a solid idea of how their organization works and what role they play. With such a large company, it can be easy to get lost in the shuffle and to think that your work is unimportant in the grand scheme. Having a better idea of IT as a whole and the company as a whole would also give hirees knowledge of other divisions and other areas that may be more interesting should they find their current position to be unsatisfactory.
