I worked at NCR full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great people at the local level. Very professional. sound strategic initiatives.

    Cons

Renumeration and restructuring locally often dependant on corporate objectives in other regions.

    Pros

if you are a staple you can depend on them to use you as such. If you work occasionally extra and they have to beg this of you, you probably will have a hard time getting overtime/shifts you desire.
    Stock Purchase Program.
A CE is usually indispensable and mediocrity is accepted if you are customer polite

    Cons

Hours change many times at the last second. Seems once you become salaried you become very dispensable. Raises are a joke unless you really impress someone.
Time off declined 4 times, when I had 8 years in making it so i was forced to lose 2 weeks of vacation. USE IT OR LOSE IT. (BS)

    Advice to Management

More consistency, retrying the same thing someone else tried 3 years ago and expecting it to work probably is not a plan for success.

I have been working at NCR full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Work/Life balance, retirement matching is good, affordable health insurance, but not super great coverage, pay is very competitive for the market, and well above average for a CS/IT graduate. Coworkers are amazing.

    Cons

Yearly raises are just average, promotions are slow, but a nice bump in pay. Senior leadership has no clear vision and doesn't have the confidence of the employees. Technology is old, but the experience is very marketable to financial companies if you decide to leave.

    Advice to Management

Don't rehash failed plans, invest in your current employees instead of outsourcing to Eastern Europe.

I worked at NCR full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Big company with lots of opportunities. NCR is a very informal place to work. The individuals at the bottom doing the actual work are very nice to work with and very supportive and helpful when assistance is needed to resolve an issue.

    Cons

NCR management is very top-down oriented. Immediate management is likely not to know or to fill you in on any big plans NCR has. Big strategic moves the company is making like completing the Hyderabad Center for Excellence, resulting in immediate job relocation's came as a surprise to me.

    Advice to Management

It is a great company if you just consider it a job, are there because you want to be and know that it is only temporary.

I worked at NCR full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, they work to suggest company loyalty. The new building they are moving to appears to be nice especially if you don't have a problem working downtown

    Cons

The IT help desk is horrible. They will never hit the company bonus because it is set so high. The wifi network is very weak if you have to use it for anything. My manager was very overworked and didn't have time to communicate with her team.

    Advice to Management

Get training for your managers so they learn how to work with their team especially if they are still handling case escalations
