I worked at NCS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Learning, work life balance, good and experienced team leads and managers, well connected by metro and public bus services.

    Cons

Pay could be better, certifications can be made mandatory to keep the work force up to date and technologically competent.

I have been working at NCS full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Perm staff benefits are quite good

    Cons

Minimal to no career progression unless you stay long enough to be exposed to more projects or take on senior roles. Job roles are stagnant

    Advice to Management

Rotate staffs to different projects every 2 years to allow more exposure

I worked at NCS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good place to start career, colleagues have lots of experience and are willing to teach.

    Cons

Slow progression. Slow increment in salary. Most of the time you boxed yourself in, not many chances to learn different roles.

    Advice to Management

Remove the Nucleus career management system, and let project managers/directors to be in charge of Nucleus employees. Wasting resources for this group of career managers.

I worked at NCS full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

If you know to lick the boot of management then you will enjoy your stay.

    Cons

    1. I have worked for other MNCs but never found a company of 5k+ employee with virtually no processes, no coding standards (there are few exceptions to this).

    2. Most of the managers are worthless. Their appraisal of employee is greatly influenced by their interaction (read lunch, coffess, buttering) etc with the employee rather than the work the employee does.

    3. Good bonuses are only for Managers. Appraisal is a joke.

    4. Company with this size has virtually no training system. Their are few trainings but that too just to promote their outdated platform or for the technologies that are outdated.

    5. Most of the Programmers working with here for more than 3-4 years hardly are aware of the latest techonologies.

    6. Awards are joke.

I have been working at NCS full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good and cordial colleague working relations

    Cons

Very low pay compared to other SIs in Singapore.
Workloads have been increasing tremendously for the past few years but pay is not rising as expected.

    Advice to Management

With the integration of the 13 month pay into our monthly pay, overall pa package is very unattractive. HR does not have any intention of communicating with employees on pay package. HR always say to revert with RO but RO is only interested in increasing the workload for justification for "possible" pay increment. Please treat the pay dialogue with the employees seriously and not push everything to RO.

    NCS Response
