    Pros

    Many opportunities in govt projects
Many training courses available (though may not always have the budget or time to sign up)

    Cons

It is quite a shock that the company has been existent as a SI for so many years, but there are no established processes and knowledge management content and hence, standards differ very much among similar projects. Though there are training courses available, but they are not made mandatory to some crucial roles like PMs, where many don't even know what are the basic tools or processes in the company.
Cost cutting is strictly observed for the sake of doing it and there are no replacement of headcount even there are resignation cases and only when customers start banging tables and escalate to the sky, then the replacement request will be acceded. There is no investment in building the capabilities nor retention of good staff, but yet management will question why projects are not won.
Internal politics struggle among team in meeting their own agenda and revenue targets, and there is no synergy working among teams to leverage on each other's offerings and strength.
There are no KPIs enforced in performance appraisal and top down goals replicated from management to the staff. However, revenue targets given to the team are usually unachievable and unbelievable.

    Advice to Management

Please step back and relook into the structure of the whole company. The company needs a strong person at the top with the relevant experience, vision and foresight, as well as understanding to drive this company back to the right path.

I worked at NCS as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Tons of exposure to project work and job flexibility. Great for new comers looking for job exposure into IT Support.

    Cons

Office politics, poor management and horrible timings for meetings. Mostly contractual jobs with little to no benefits.

    Advice to Management

Do advise better timings for Desktop Engineers to meet up for monthly meetings.

I have been working at NCS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits are not too bad and the performance bonus can go as high as three months. There are also plenty of guidance, if you are working with the right manager who is willing to guide you. Those in the upper management are rather amiable people.

    Cons

While the effort you put in plays a part in determining what you get, which in turn affects your performance bonus, the main determining factor lies in how well you get along with the management and how much they like you.

The company also does not reevaluate ineffective people, and these people can remain in mid-level managerial positions or even get promoted higher up in the hierarchy, placing them in a position where they abuse their power and put down those who are in a lower rank than them.

Morale can get very low because of the poor management and lack of direction. You are also expected to work weekends and late nights, and there will be demands for you to do so, even if you have prior plans. Even though on the surface, the company promotes the policy of 'work-life balance'. But in truth, there is basically no such thing.

Overall, there are few good managers who would protect their subordinates and treat them fairly. But majority of them only know how to demand and they have no respect for people in a lower rank.

    Advice to Management

Perhaps it is time to take a step back and reevaluate the managers you have in your employ. Keeping people who cannot perform, but only know how to command their subordinates as if it is their right, is only going to bring down morale and chase away the truly good employees.

I do agree that the total compensation is rather competitive, especially with high performers. Performance management has some element of subjectivity and relativity – regardless of where you are... More

I worked at NCS as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Had a chance to work with a good team shoulder to shoulder.

Get to Watch other team dog eat dog if managed to squeeze out time from work.

Good environment for people that can talk and act more than work. You will sure be promoted very fast... never like before. I guess it is consider a talent here.

    Do provide some good training.

Good if you are permanent staff. Usually no one can touch u.

    Cons

Working with team lead is always one way.
Merry-go-round with no outcome. Incompetent, short sighted, no talent and always on MC (before/after weekend or holiday)

Unorganized structure, unrecognized of hard work. Messy process and all manual work.

Expexted to work OT and out of office after office hour yet do not pay OT.

Constructive Feedback are usually throw aside as people try not to get their hands dirty even it meant to improve process.

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes and see who is working. Those who talk does not really work.

I worked at NCS full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good local presence and strong government link engagements and projects. Good risk management to help mitigate huge risk to the company.

    Cons

Too much red tapes and effort spent on qualifications, and yet there are many gaps and things not running smooth as it should be. Business strategy may be there, but not properly flow down to working level, staff "just do it" for the sake of meeting KPI on paper only, and waiting for direction to change course and do the same "just do it" attitude all over again.

    Advice to Management

Management seems on cloud nine above while employees hitting the wall most of the time. There is vacuum in between that the management need to fix, as they sure aware. If they are not aware ... then gone case.
