I worked at NCS full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

If you know to lick the boot of management then you will enjoy your stay.

    Cons

    1. I have worked for other MNCs but never found a company of 5k+ employee with virtually no processes, no coding standards (there are few exceptions to this).

    2. Most of the managers are worthless. Their appraisal of employee is greatly influenced by their interaction (read lunch, coffess, buttering) etc with the employee rather than the work the employee does.

    3. Good bonuses are only for Managers. Appraisal is a joke.

    4. Company with this size has virtually no training system. Their are few trainings but that too just to promote their outdated platform or for the technologies that are outdated.

    5. Most of the Programmers working with here for more than 3-4 years hardly are aware of the latest techonologies.

    6. Awards are joke.

I have been working at NCS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits are not too bad and the performance bonus can go as high as three months. There are also plenty of guidance, if you are working with the right manager who is willing to guide you. Those in the upper management are rather amiable people.

    Cons

While the effort you put in plays a part in determining what you get, which in turn affects your performance bonus, the main determining factor lies in how well you get along with the management and how much they like you.

The company also does not reevaluate ineffective people, and these people can remain in mid-level managerial positions or even get promoted higher up in the hierarchy, placing them in a position where they abuse their power and put down those who are in a lower rank than them.

Morale can get very low because of the poor management and lack of direction. You are also expected to work weekends and late nights, and there will be demands for you to do so, even if you have prior plans. Even though on the surface, the company promotes the policy of 'work-life balance'. But in truth, there is basically no such thing.

Overall, there are few good managers who would protect their subordinates and treat them fairly. But majority of them only know how to demand and they have no respect for people in a lower rank.

    Advice to Management

Perhaps it is time to take a step back and reevaluate the managers you have in your employ. Keeping people who cannot perform, but only know how to command their subordinates as if it is their right, is only going to bring down morale and chase away the truly good employees.

    I worked at NCS full-time

    Pros

Staff benefit will be better than normal as what's governed by a normal standard benefits. Big company where your work is very specific and most probably do not have to work Overtime and you are clear what's your work.
Alot of OTs if you falls under a department with alot of tenders.

    Cons

Might be pressed to show face by participating in events/charities and handle activites. HR is not standing on the employees side, they are always on the higher management 's side. You can either risk being a high flyer and prosper or leave; or live a boring life at the lower level. Even the employee survey usually is for show (which is common in many organisations).
Not much help among the colleagues with regards to work. However, they are always willing to talk on non-work topics. And your fate depends on your boss and department.

    Advice to Management

Flight for your staff who are good workers.

    Pros

Good and cordial colleague working relations

    Cons

Very low pay compared to other SIs in Singapore.
Workloads have been increasing tremendously for the past few years but pay is not rising as expected.

    Advice to Management

With the integration of the 13 month pay into our monthly pay, overall pa package is very unattractive. HR does not have any intention of communicating with employees on pay package. HR always say to revert with RO but RO is only interested in increasing the workload for justification for "possible" pay increment. Please treat the pay dialogue with the employees seriously and not push everything to RO.
