I have been working at NCSOFT full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I think management is finally getting it. We have leaders in right roles finally. If we take bad leadership out quickly we will be in good shape to meet goals. Road show is such a great idea to share more and get leaders out in front of employees what a great idea. place now at the studio that will hopefully make a difference. Benefits good especially in my location has Kaiser.

    Cons

We are one company NCSOFT and ArenaNet is part of the team. Please include them more. Had no idea who studio leader was until recently. Why keep them separate? We should all know the products we are working on. It's exciting stuff for gamers to share across studios.

    Advice to Management

Share more and be visible. Hearing our leaders speak confidently about the things they are working on instills confidence in future of our company.

    Pros

    Interesting content to work on.
    Writers are fun people.
There are busy times and slow times.

    Cons

Not everyone pulls the same weight, but that's kind of true everywhere.
This place is great for Contractors, but can be a challenge for Full Time if they want to advance in the company.

    Advice to Management

Give people more opportunities for growth, especially women.

I have been working at NCSOFT full-time

    Pros

Great atmosphere, awesome technology to get your hands on, Beer Socials, laid back environment (shorts and flip-flops) Nerf dart wars, and Management that looks after its employees.

    Cons

Professional Training is sparse (but I have not really pushed for it) Long hours, lots of projects, and page-outs can be brutal, but that can be said for any other company

    Advice to Management

The Technical Operations department is swiftly turning into a well oiled machine. Keep doing what you are doing.

I have been working at NCSOFT full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay is good compared to many other companies. Benefits are okay/standard.

They seem to be hiring like crazy. The publishing team has put an entirely new executive team in place in the last 4-5 months and things seem to be picking up some momentum with new games and projects.

Team and department events/perks seem to be picking up, like group happy hours, department lunches and team movies. Still has some way to go on the perks, but people seem to be having fun again.

New games and WildStar transitioning to Free to Play seem like they could put some revenues back into the company. New mobile studio in SF-area is exciting too.

    Cons

There's a complicated history at the company where there are all kinds of weird policies and procedures in place. Sounds like people are trying to fix that, but there's a long way to go still.

Perks and morale are improving, but still need work.

    Advice to Management

More perks, more fun - and maybe a hit game or two. Make your employees feel heard and give them chances to meet all the new people coming in!

I have been working at NCSOFT full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

We make and publish great games. Some old, some new. Many of these games, such as WildStar, are getting better every month.

There are great people -- people who work hard, support each other, and care deeply about the future of this place.

There is an exciting vision here -- but, the organization is still very much in a building phase. This means that people that join have an enormous opportunity to come in and help shape how things work. For people who are willing and able to roll up their sleeves, collaborate across teams, and put their mark on something -- I can't think of a better opportunity.

    Cons

Reading over these reviews, it is evident that six to 12 months ago there was a lot of uncertainty and dissatisfaction. Some of that is almost certainly still here. While a lot of things have changed over the last few months, the company is still absolutely in the process of building. If you are looking for a place where all processes are established and all roles are clearly defined, this is not that place.

There is still a huge amount of work that needs to be done for NCSOFT to reach its potential. There is progress every day, but it can be slow ... sometimes way too slow. That can be incredibly frustrating. Also, NCSOFT doesn't really have a strong public identity or reputation in the West.

    Advice to Management

Invest more time and resources on building teams across departments, across studios and across regions. Also, find ways to recognize employees who demonstrate their passion and go above and beyond (there are a lot of them).

    Pros

Very prompt responses during interview process. Friendly and professional. Very relaxing work that I greatly enjoy. Great co-workers.

    Cons

Did not get official hiring letter. Was told the wrong payment amount in initial interview and instead got paid less.

    Advice to Management

Don't fight over who buys food for the break room....not having food sucks.

I worked at NCSOFT full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Paragon had some of the best people I've worked with, a fantastic game in City of Heroes, paid well, and let us do the job we needed to do. Very collaborative place. It also had excellent work-life balance.

    Cons

Too much interference from HQ in Korea, too much difficulty in getting a new project off the ground.

    Advice to Management

You should have spun CoH off rather than closing it down.
