    Pros

    Company has an amazing technology.

    Cons

They all work so hard but not smart. Too much favoritism.

    Advice to Management

They need to be open to new ideas, if they hire new people, they should be willing to accept new ideas and improve their old ways, just b/c a manger been at NEC for 30 years doesn't mean he/she knows it all.

    Pros

Loyal customers and employees, that work hard to deliver promised technology. Benefits were above other US companies. You got rid of Hooper and gang, now just one more to go!

    Cons

The Hooper and Takahashi era is proving to diminish the NEC footprint in the US. Technology lags industry leaders and no strategy to improve the current path.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to look at management, you are the reason the company is failing. Stop sitting in a room and pretending everything is going to improve. It isn't!

I worked at NEC Corporation of America (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The first 6-7 years of my employment at ESU was a tremendously positive experience.
The potential for NEC to make a difference to their customers is huge! They have an impressive portfolio of technology.
There are allot of great people in the rank and file with a true desire to serve their customers

    Cons

Leadership has essentially destroyed the ESU business in the past 3-4 years with a very poor attempt at"Transformation." In order to transform, one must fully understand BOTH current state and future state and develop a plan to achieve goals. They essentially threw away a business unit and took a big steamy on allot of loyal employees and more importantly - customers.
I feel like I completely wasted the last 10 years of my professional life because of the final 3 years. I really thought I could help positively affect change and I feel stupid because I did not see how inept the organization was sooner.

    Advice to Management

First decide if you will sell direct to end users, if so commit to it.

I worked at NEC Corporation of America full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I was paid for a least 1 year to train others to replace me. Great Benefits. So much vacation time, there's no way to use it all.

    Cons

Direct sales competes with Channel. Each knows nothing about each other when the current competitive model is to sell product 90% through channel. 6 quarters of firings each quarter puts everyone on edge. Employees are constantly preparing on a quarterly basis to lose their jobs on the Direct side.

    Advice to Management

Drive Channel sales with direct team members. Get rid of the archaic ordering and accounting systems that require 4 people to touch one order. In this day and age of click to order, this complicated data entry for each sale is ridiculous.
