    Positive Outlook

I worked at NECCO full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Solid organizational culture with many events and 'bonus' opportunities tied to participation in events.
Leadership knows its stuff and is very interested in employee development.
    Tuition reimbursement.
    Generous time off.
Each satellite office is self-directed, providing a sense of autonomy and 'ownership'.
    Matching 403B.
Plenty of room for career advancement if you are a social worker or therapist.

    Cons

Health care benefits are not great.
Culture is definitely single track and not a lot of room for real diversity.

    Advice to Management

Make more effort to recruit a diverse workforce.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at NECCO part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

After working for this company, it will be difficult for any other job to measure up to the level of teamwork, praise, concern, and positive working culture. Very flexible schedule, excellent bonuses and opportunities to earn extra money, care and concern for consumers, and upward mobility.

    Cons

    Communication at times and improvising.

    Advice to Management

    Keep who you have!

    Pros

Being able to make a difference in the lives of children is rewarding. The people at The Necco Center are friendly and helpful.

    Cons

I have a Bachelors Degree and do not make enough to pay my bills, let alone live comfortably. Also, it is easy to get discouraged when hard work goes unnoticed.

    Advice to Management

Necco staff work hard and change lives of the children they care for. If retaining your employees is important, and I believe it is, it is critical to show them much appreciation.

I worked at NECCO full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Necco provided excellent perks and chances to make extra money. There was also the chance to work on flex time. Ample vacation and sick pay.

    Cons

The environment is one of the most unprofessional I've ever witnessed. The program director is unable to address concerns with employees directly. The office reminded me of the movie "Mean Girls." The PD picked favorites and talked openly about other employees with them. PD routinely made disparaging remarks about foster parents certified through the agency. Office morale was abysmal.

    Advice to Management

    Find a new program director.

    Neutral Outlook

    Pros

The corporate culture at Necco is wonderful! It's such a fun place to work and the bonuses are very generous.

    Cons

As a therapist, I was expected to travel to several different counties across Kentucky each week just to meet with my clients. It really took away from the face-to-face time I had to spend with each client.

    Advice to Management

Consider restructuring how each position conducts their work (e.g., having clinical staff do home visits is not an efficient or effective use of time).

Flexibility in schedule and relaxed environment.

    Cons

Not everything it is cracked up to be. Very misleading!

    Advice to Management

Try following the corporate cultures you have put in place!
