    Positive Outlook

I worked at NEHTA part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company is supporting some fantastic initiatives to assist with better Health outcomes for the population. The people who work here have impressive backgrounds (well qualified, experienced), are motivated to deliver and are fun to work with.

    Cons

Even though it is not a government body, it still needs to work within the constraints of government which can mean frustrating bureaucracy at times.

    Advice to Management

    None

I worked at NEHTA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Different kind of experience than other sectors. Easy work place if you know how to argue things to slow other people down so that you don't have to work at.

    Cons

It's not really that good place for Full time employees. If possible try to get a contractor position where you'll get paid a lot with more relaxed conditions than full time employees. Most managers aren't technical. In terms of work conditions, it follows the 80s-90s working conditions rather than 21st century work place. Also there aren't that many career opportunities within the same position.

    Advice to Management

Take some responsibility and try to work with your team rather than just sit around the office and chit chat with other people.

    - Knowledge sharing is minimal so new staff are often left in the dark
    - Poor management
    - It's all about ego and power play
    - High staff turnover

    Advice to Management

Listen to team members and address the issues raised rather than wait for someone else to tackle them.

I worked at NEHTA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

About the only reason to work for NEHTA is that it is the peak organisation for e-health in Australia.

Pay is reasonable and in line with what the market offers.

As public sector employer it offers the typical 38 hours per week

    Cons

Highly incompetent senior management and promotions are not based on skills or knowledge but on making friends in the organisation.

Work atmosphere is chaotic. No proper direction from senior management.

    Pros

Great greenfield eHealth initiative...never boring at work despite the 'crazy pace'.
    Exposure to complex stakeholder group.

    Cons

NEHTA requires better integration amongst the divisions to deliver a world class eHealth product.

    Pros

Pleasant place to work. I think, after some lessons learnt due to high attrition rate, they are finally putting in effort to develop & be stronger internally with better core infrastructure.

    Cons

A lot of power hungry managers in it for themselves only. There are some genuinely good managers but not enough.

    Advice to Management

Carefully chose management with good people skills to help build more internal processes.

    Cons

    Lack of management communication
    Too hard to be heard
Management did not know how to implement
    Stakeholder relationships were mismanaged
Management ego had be stroked or staff were seen as a challenge.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and provide direction
    You have some fantastic ideas with your staff; they just need to be guided on implementing them;
