very good health insurance, some 401(k) match

    Cons

no career opportunities for regular engineers
tech-stack and dev practices heavily lacking behind the state-of-the-art
    high politics, slow motion

    Advice to Management

I have been working at NETSCOUT full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Still getting projects and paying the bills.

    Cons

I work in a startup acquired by a company that Netscout acquired earlier this year. It went to hell after Netscout's acquisition.

Netscout management team does not know the limit of the tool but keeps writing blank checks to customers to get as many deals in as possible, no matter how unfeasible the requirements are. They kept asking employees to make empty promises to customers about features that our engineering team will never be able to deliver. Field engineers are left to suffer from unable to deliver.

Even worse, the pricing is getting ridiculously low by Netscout management team, as compared to the pricing our original management team would fight for. Why would the management team cut throat if Netscout is already the biggest player in network measurement? Why we employees doing good software be treated like cheap labour?

    Advice to Management

Do not use your out-of-day hardware thinking to manage software. Know your product, or not touch it at all so as not to ruin it.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at NETSCOUT full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Well known name in industry

    Cons

Lagging R&D. Very self important and unfriendly customer policies. Legal and finance are a nightmare to have engage with customers. Sales leadership is weak and stuck in ideas 10 or more years old. They are focused on wireless service provider market and but have incomplete and inferior offerings to other competitors that are upper right hand quadrant APM vendors (NetScout dropped off the Gartner chart altogether).

    Advice to Management

The incestuous long term leadership from early days still lead the company and believe the world is more or less the same as it was 10 years ago. There needs to be change in CEO, Finance, Sales Leadership to really make a change at NetScout which unless they are sold isn't likely to occur.

I have been working at NETSCOUT full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Very friendly people, very accommodating

    Cons

The craziest decision making process I have ever seen. Smart CEO that decides and overrules everything. He often makes sense, but this is no way to run a rail road!

    Advice to Management

Institute a decision making process and respect your hierarchy. Plus, realize that the future is not enterprise (networks there work) but service providers (better network = more profit).

    Pros

The only advantage would be that they never lay off people, but instead with their policies make people leave themselves.

    Cons

A very cheap company that even does not replace its employees after people leave their position. no raise no possibly of development, training ... . I do not recommend joining them to anybody.

    Pros

Pay scale is competitive to the market.

    Cons

Confused company after major acquisitions. Products overlap and they are killing the products that were not developed by the original NETSCOUT.

    Advice to Management

Get over your ego and focus on building the best company, regardless of origin.

I have been working at NETSCOUT full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Solid Technical offering
    Market leading DDOS Offering (Arbor)
    Good Customer Base
Lots of flexibility, i.e. work from home
    Competitive Benefits package

    Cons

    Premium++ prices
Very slow to adapt to market changes, i.e. Cloud and Virtualization
A large number of under performing sales teams
New product releases are often delayed by months and months and lack all the features detailed on Roadmap

    Advice to Management

Reduce the number of mid-level management. It is time to no longer be lean but not mean, but lean and a little mean. There is competition in the market place and it needs to be recognised and not always discounted as being inferior.
