Supportive but tiring
May 26, 2022 - Sales Associate in Tamworth, EnglandRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Flexible hours and good chances for training and progression, great first job. Floor management are super understanding and friendly, teams are helpful and friendly too. You've always got support in some form. Working wardrobe allowance of 75% off and a 25% discount.
Cons
Lots of responsibilities piling up on top of one another. Expected to pick up the job roles of other departments on top of what you're already expected to do. The job can be exhausting physically and mentally. Sale weeks are taxing (no extra pay and expected to work Boxing Day). Bonus was removed and changed for a voucher scheme.

Excellent Part Time Job
Mar 31, 2021 - Retail Sales Assistant in Glasgow, ScotlandRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Everything is done by the book and staff are fairly paid and treated. The break times are really good.
Cons
The boxing day sale and Summer Sale are long hours and very tiring

Pros
Shift market place enables you to pick up shifts dependent on how well the store is doing, varies greatly.
Cons
They will ignore your availability and make it very difficult if you cannot work the shifts they have given you. Management do not care about you. You often work with different colleagues each time. Bag checks means you often lose 10 mins of your break just trying to get out the store. They do not ask you about your travel situation before putting you in for very late shifts eg. midnight finishes No extra pay for boxing day and you will always be expected to work it. Management only care when something goes wrong and never give you positive feedback. I worked for three years at one store and didn't even get a goodbye.

Temp Christmas
Nov 12, 2015 - Stockroom Assistant in Cardiff, WalesRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Friendly environment and the majority of management are decent enough. Their training is thorough so you actually understand what you are doing and at Christmas there are plenty of opportunities for over time. Working in the stock room was more fun and social from what I saw of other roles in the store. You also don't really have to deal with customers as much as other roles, unless they approach you for help on the floor while you are putting out stock. Staff discount is good 25% and you get first pick of all the sales stuff before boxing day.
Cons
Stock room staff are on their feet for long hours rushing about, especially during Christmas and on weekends.
