Re structuring nearly every year so he’s can get cut if u are part times and management roles can also get re structured. Store manager for the store I worked at was really unprofessional but area managers were brilliant.

Pros
The team who worked with me, as in the other call centre agents made this place bearable. I had a few heart of gold managers but the rest were useless and problematic.
Cons
1. management are incompetent and do nothing to help the team or offer support/guidance 2. work culture is TOXIC. If your next of kin died, you're still expected to go to work. If you're so sick you can't even speak or stand, they will guilt you for not showing up. More than two sick days and you're fired. 3. hours are unsociable and long. If you work here and unless you the morning shift which is almost impossible to get, you will not have a life at all. The night/evening team should be paid more. 4. Just a terrible work place with too much politics and a bunch of egotistical people running it.

Cons
-Lack of progression -Christmas and sale shifts -Star rating reviews (makes you feel disheartened if you don't get a good review from your manager) -Minimum wage (5* customer service expected for a low wage job)

Extra shifts Early and late starts
Cons
Adding shifts on without asking me Poor training Managers sitting around gossiping with each other very cliquey leaving people out. Had a very bad vibe from one of the managers seemed very nice at the start then changed. Barely knew any of the names of people I worked with. I only done two weeks here and managed to get a new job.

Pros
Sean is a warm and friendly manager and there is always help for new joiners.
Cons

Excellent for a first job/part time
Jun 16, 2017 - Sales Consultant in Greenhithe, EnglandRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Easy Pickup/Putdown shift system Above average pay for retail, that increase after 6 months and a year. 25% discount on all Next clothing. Very friendly staff. Making friends is not difficult and people will be very supportive Most managers are helpful and understanding of issues in store as well as if you need help with a customer Rota'd/set hours. Pro, as you know exactly when you'll be working every week.
Cons
Upper management can be rude/ belittling. I often felt some managers only spoke to me if they had a grievance and sometimes could go a bit over the line (e.g telling female members of staff to wear makeup, even though it's not in their contract.) Customers are unbelievably messy. Prepare to lose faith in humanity, as customers will ignore story policy, make tonnes of mess by not hanging clothes up, taking shirts out of packet, and disposing of rubbish all over the store. Its almost like they don't know a human being has to clear their mess, the mess of a grown adult who should know better. 5am for sales is not fun. No excuses, you have to do some sale days, at often inhuman hours. Little consideration is made of those using public transport to get there, forcing them to stay late, miss buses, and get home for a very late time. Store's opening times were permanently extended by half an hour. No one was consulted on this, it just happened, which could strain travel for those working late.

More cons than pros
Feb 17, 2023 - Sales Consultant in Beckton, EnglandRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Decent pay for the work required to be completed.
Cons
- The managers that I have had are not great to work with and are exceptionally rude. I will have to highlight a manager called Karen for this one. - This particular manager has shouted at staff in front of customers and is not able to handle stress at all. -Another member of the managing team constantly asks inappropriate questions about your religious beliefs and constantly just makes you feel uncomfortable.

Poor management let the whole thing down!
Oct 9, 2015 - Sales ConsultantRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Other staff members are lovely - very glad I met who I did there. Also, there's never nothing to do so the days go really fast
Cons
Management were either clueless, ruthless or inconsiderate. I can't recall a time when a manager was nice to me and on multiple occasions I was asked to work shifts which were illegal, which they didn't have a clue about. They sure had their favourite people, but anyone else was out. They were bullies to a lot of people in the store - the line managers were usually nice and understanding but obviously you couldn't put in a complaint to them! Made my time there a living nightmare and despite doing everything right (even though we had very very little training) and being as they expected, they bullied me out of the job and made me and other people angry and confused. Also they are ridiculous with the hours - multiple times I told them I was a student and can't work more than I'm at uni (understandable) but they never listened and thats what pushed me out of there. They can't stick to what you told them to be your 'maximum hours' and I was getting way above that, despite talking to management repeatedly
